   Responsive, clicky MX Reds, backlighting with large, clear lettering, and a surprising weight that means it stays where you put it make this a treat to use.

   When first purchased several months ago, it would often have connectivity issues, but Corsair’s really been on top of rolling out software and firmware updates that have eliminated this problem entirely. I never have signal drops now unless it goes to sleep. No more flickering backlight indicating signal loss and no more sentences that look like ants carted most of the vowels off to their nest.

   Since that was my only real gripe (the other being a lack of RGB which barely counts), this keyboard is basically perfect for my needs.

   Keyboard itself is fine. Typical Cherry Red keyboard. However the wireless and iCUE is really garbage: – Bluetooth: It drops connection sometimes (I use Intel Bluetooth) – Wireless Receiver: It improves a little bit, until you get connection dropouts again, and losing typing information (the receiver is just 10-12 inches away from the keyboard) – THE WORST: iCUE is Corsair’s keyboard configuration software. But it is excessively bloated. It installs at least 4 services to your Windows machine, including a Corsair Gaming Audio Configuration Service. I really don’t understand why a headset needs a “configuration service” running on the background, plus WHY A KEYBOARD needs a “gaming audio configuration service”? This service creates a huge problem for me. I am using a USB audio interface from Native Instruments. This service will causes all 3D applications (including PC games) I play stop responding for 5-8 minutes when started (or no audio), because it tries to intercept all audio channels going through USB and gets stuck (causing app’s audio thread exceptionally quit. Maybe because I didn’t buy their headsets so I got punished). The problem is that you have to use iCUE software to update keyboard firmware, or set up keyboard parameters (backlight pattern, key assignments, etc.). So you have to know how to disable its bloated services in Windows in order to avoid the USB audio issues. As a developer I do know how Windows works, so I can deal with it (spent 1-2 weeks). But I don’t think this is good for normal users. And because of this, this is definitely a 1/5 product for me regardless of the keyboard itself. I treat drivers/configuration software as a part of this product.

   I’m not sure if I either didn’t receive, or accidently threw away the dongle with my keyboard.
   I looked online to buy a replacement and couldn’t find it in stock anywhere.

   I contacted the seller and they asked for some product # details and immediately sent me two dongles.
   I plugged it in, opened the cue app, and synced it with no hassle.

   The board is comfortable, keyboard works great. The mouse pad is a bit too slippery for my taste, but that can be easily changed out.

   Inferior to my previous products in everywhere. I got the lapdog K63 keyboard and the scimatar as I don’t have space in my small living space for a desk. First won’t connect via wireless. I have the dongle in keyboard charged, but nope it needs their specific software to work properly. W.e I don’t have much space as mentioned so wired is fine. Mouse time. Doesn’t work without ICUE again. Unlike my previous which had modular options and worked the moment it was plugged in. The scimitar is just blank and if I want it to work not only do I need the program I will need to learn how they hell they want their macros set up. Instead of the usual 1 thru = or anything really default. After enough youtube I got numpad macrod or so I thought. Turns out it lies and uses the basic 1 thru = even when you setup numpad. You can tell because Alt +# won’t produce symbols which is what I needed as the keyboard doesn’t come with a number pad. Lastly the lapboard itself. Actually love it. Wish I could put a non shit keyboard in there, but the gel pad underside keeps it level on my lap and the mouse pad is really nice. It a shame I have to use another mouse on it due to inaccessability of their products. Another wireless keyboard I lay over the void in the lapboard. Get yourself something nicer.

   The key caps sometimes came off while playing so it is not reliable. Also during bios, u cannot use the keyboard at all. Sometimes the wireless can detect, other times not. Other than that is okay. It feels nice. However, I do not recommend this keyboard at all.

   Bought for Mac after several pc wired keyboards behaved erratically. Connected via Bluetooth works solidly, no issues. There is a very subtle cluck sound, audible only in total silence – I use it at work, and cannot hear clicks at all when ac is on. build quality is superb, battery lasts days, and recharge is easy from USB

    WARNING: Lots of background on my search for a keyboard as a couch gamer. If you don’t care, skip down to the review. BACKGROUND: Ever since I switched to computing from my couch (all computing, from media consumption to reading to programming to web browsing to gaming and more), I’ve experimented with many input options, looking for the best. I started with the Logitech K800. There’s a lot to love about it, including long battery life on AA batteries, automatic backlighting, the unifying receiver, comfort on my lap and a good typing feel. It wasn’t amazing for gaming though, and the tiniest bit of moisture would kill it. Two of these died before I switched from the model entirely. I decided to try a mechanical keyboard, but there were zero wireless mech keyboards as of a year or two ago when I started looking. I instead went wired, first with a standard razer blackwidow and then an RGB tenkeyless black widow. The RGB one had a removable cable, and the innards of the micro-usb port lasted *maybe* a week before failing, and Razer wouldn’t help me with it at all, so it became junk. I took it apart for experimenting in custom keyboard building and circuit design. I used the other blackwidow for a while, but eventually I just couldn’t handle the enormous size of it (that’s why I had tried the tenkeyless version for a while), nor could I tolerate the multiple cables and extension cables snaking across the room, getting tripped over constantly, bringing the keyboard on the (hard) ground all the time. Also, while I enjoyed the clicky keys at first, I slowly fell out of love with them and wanted something quieter with a shorter throw. All the while I had been occasionally searching for wireless keyboards, while also working on building my own. My go-keyboard.com search finally resulted in a decent-looking wireless mech keyboard, the Drevo Caliber (something like that). It was compact, had RGB lighting, ran on bluetooth and had knockoff brown switches. I liked my Drevo, and it was definitely the best one up to that point. Over time, its flaws wore on me though. Battery life was only a few days, and could only be charged by micro-usb. It had no low-battery warning, so it would die in the middle of typing, and repeat the last character a million times. The bluetooth connection was wonky. It barely worked if anyone walked in front of it. It worked fine sometimes, and other times would lag like crazy. Multiple times a day it would lose its connection, requiring me to open bluetooth properties to get windows to re-recognize it. It had no F keys, making gaming and programming a huge pain in the butt. All of the configuration was FN-key based, which sounds great except any time my babies got their hands on it they would completely reconfigure my keyboard by slapping their hands randomly on it. I eventually gave up on any custom lighting and just reverted to a single color after they screwed it up. The kids also always pressed the key combo that swapped caps lock with control, which always confused the heck out of me. The key feel wasn’t as good as real browns, two of the switches broke (kids again) and I couldn’t fix them because they weren’t standard. The power switch was very hard to flip. So on and so on. Anyway, this isn’t a review of the Drevo (which I did review pretty well early on). This is about the K63. All of a sudden, where there were none and then one, TWO new wireless mech keyboards were released – one from Logitech and one from Corsair. I didn’t like any of the design choices on the Logitech (too big, can’t remove rest, no backlighting), but one of the answers or reviews mentioned the K63, which I searched for – and it had nearly everything I wanted! K63 WIRELESS REVIEW: I picked one of these babies up almost immediately and fell in love right away. It is solidly built and attractive, modern but not ostentatious. There’s no lag at all using the included radio transceiver. Typing is as good as any wired keyboard. Range is long, responsiveness is good and consistent. I haven’t noticed any problems with interference, whether by radio or bodies. Cap font is very easy to read and labels are properly lit by the backlight, so using it in the living room in the dark is a pleasure. I would have liked a more night-friendly lighting option, like red/yellow/orange, but I’m glad there’s any lighting at all. The switches feel fantastic, with good feedback and a very short throw. The key is registered as pressed with just a featherlight touch, so typing is the fastest and most accurate I’ve ever experienced on a keyboard and gaming is accurate and twitchy. The keys are all where I expect them to be and, unlikely some of the other keyboards I’ve used on the couch, I have very few typing errors or mis-presses. On the Drevo especially I tended to mis-press tab, caps lock, backspace and escape. The cap and switch quality is high. The space bar is very stable across the entire length of it and key travel is much smoother than the knockoff switches. I think cherry reds are my new favorite mechanical keyboard switch. I used to like super clicky ones (razer custom switches and cherry blue), but I switched to liking browns. Reds are like a better brown. They feel a lot like the super shallow depth membrane keyboards with their short throw, but they are much more satisfying to type on. They’re even better if you can train yourself not to bottom out the key presses, because they register the press long before the switch bottoms out. You could be a super fast typist on these switches, I think. For some reason there’s a soft, cross-hatch texture on the space bar. It feels nice, but I don’t know what it’s there and nowhere else. It isn’t super huge, but has all the keys that matter. Tenkeyless is my favorite style, since I almost never use the numpad anyway, for gaming or work. I’m glad that it has volume and media keys, but they do add significant extra height. Also, the wristrest is removable, which is great because it is nigh worthless on your lap. It is quite heavy for its size – dense. The keyboard sits well on my lap, if not as well as the Drevo. For whatever reason, typing with the K63 on my lap tires out my wrists, which wasn’t the case with the Drevo. Gaming is perfectly fine, but if doing lots of typing (work, or this review) I prefer to use my hand-made wooden couch-arm-table (see picture). The keyboard is a bit large for it though. I’m strongly considering getting the lapboard they make for this, but since I will still probably use my mouse on my couch-table I’m not 100% sold on the lapboard. The more natural spacing of the keys (compared to my Drevo) means the keyboard is much wider, even with a similar key layout. This makes typing much more accurate and comfortable, but the keyboard takes up more lap room and barely fits on my couch-table. Pros and cons I guess. I haven’t had it long enough to know what battery life is like. However, the easily flipped power switch means I’m more likely to turn it off when not needed, extending the battery life. Same with the backlight – turning it off or dimming it is super fast and easy. The backlight does shut off when not used, and comes back on when you press a key, so that helps save some battery life too. I’d love to see it come on when you approach it without having to press anything. This is a feature of the Logitech K800 and I love it. This is probably not a popular opinion, but I wish the keyboard used AA batteries. When the battery gets low, I’d rather be able to quick swap a couple of double As and keep on working or gaming. Having to plug it in means I don’t use it (short cable) or use it wired (long cable, tripping hazard, increased likelihood of damage to micro-usb connector the longer it is connected). Both options suck. I’ll have to get into the habit of plugging it in to charge before I go to bed every night. It does warn you when the battery is getting low, so I guess you can go grab a battery pack before it dies. I don’t know if it goes into wired mode when plugged in. I can’t tell the difference in accuracy or lag plugged in and not, so I guess it doesn’t matter. The keyboard works fine without the custom software. You miss out on custom lighting and whatever other features, but if you don’t want more custom peripheral software on your PC you’ll be glad to know you don’t really need it. For what it is, the lapboard seems too expensive. This isn’t a review of the lapboard though, so no dings for that. There’s a windows key lock button, which is easy to press and hard to accidentally press. I intentionally use the windows button all the time, so I never need a windows-key-lock button, but this is a good implementation for people that need that. There is a FN (function key) and a few alternate functions on the F keys (back, search, app-switch, toggle radio or bluetooth, sleep). These may or may not be customizable in the software. I imagine 99% of the keyboard is the same as the standard K63, so if you know you like that keyboard, I’m sure you’ll love this one. The wireless doesn’t harm the keyboard in anyway, and the premium is more than worth it for couch gaming over a standard K63. TLDR: I have no problem recommending this as the single best couch keyboard there is, for work or gaming, by a LONGSHOT. Pair it with a great low-latency wireless mouse like the Logitech G603 or G602 (my current mouse) and either a lapboard or some kind of side table and you’ll never have to sit at a desk again. Your back will thank you. PS: My couch gaming setup will finally be complete when the new GSync gaming displays that Nvidia announced this year start coming out. I’ve been waiting for a gaming TV for even longer than I’ve been waiting for a great wireless mech keyboard, and I can’t wait! edit: Added picture.

    I am not a gamer …. but I was getting tired of my membrane wireless keyboards as I seemed to make lots of errors when typing and I never liked the feel. I decided to try this Corsair keyboard … and even though I only have it for a few days, I love it! A really good decision to get it on my part. It is a little on the heavy side … but I was looking for solid and I do not travel with this board .. so it is perfect. The key feel is incredible. I keep the backlighting off, but it is good to know I have it should I need it at night. Interestingly the fob plugs into my docking station and works perfectly … probably should not be surprised by this, but I liked it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great/substantial keyboard.
