   I purchased the Corsair K70 Rapidfire with Cherry MX Speed switches on go-keyboard.com for $99.99. Considering that a budget membrane keyboard can be had for around $15, these keyboards are for enthusiasts. That said, just like I prefer a 144Hz monitor to a 60Hz monitor, I prefer a mechanical keyboard over a membrane keyboard. I have used quite a few mechanical keyboards over the last few years, and I think the search for the perfect keyboard for me, ends with the K70 with Cherry MX Speed switches. Everything comes down to preference, and I prefer a keyboard with a wrist rest, standard keyboard layout with a numpad (I work from home often, so I need it), USB pass through, and backlit with what I like to call warm colors (red/orange or yellow).As for switches, after using different switch types, I realized I prefer linear switches. This keyboard has all the above mentioned features. In the package, they included a keycap remover, some custom textured key caps for FPS and MOBA games. I installed the WASD keycaps, and I really like how they feel. Now for the switches themselves. After having used Kailh Brown, Cherry Red, Blue, Speed, and Razer Green, I feel that the Speed switches are the most comfortable. Typing or gaming, these feel just right. After long hours of work or a gaming session, I never have the finger fatigue I felt when using any other keyboard. In this regard, the Blue switches were the worst for me. I prefer these over the Cherry MX Red. Going back to my K70 with Red switches, I can immediately feel the difference in actuation point. I only have to lightly tap the keys for them to actuate on the Cherry MX Speed keyboard. I could swear that the actuation force is also less for Speed switches compared to the Red switches, but turns out that’s not true. They both require a 45g actuation force. I think I got my money’s worth. This particular line of keyboards are targeted for gamers, but I will definitely recommend this for non gamers as well. If you prefer smooth, linear switches, then the Speed switches are definitely worth trying. For those of who have used membrane keyboards, the price of mechanical keyboards might seem absurdly high, but I recommend trying a few to see if they are to your liking. From a comfort standpoint, the Speed switches definitely surpass the best of the membrane keyboards (from my experience).

   Good item i like the keyboard itself it just dont appreciate parts of it being broken before i can open it. The keyboards palm rest was already broken when i opened it. One hinge completely snapped off and another was us barely hanging on by its last thread.

   The overall keyboard design is nice, with decent functionality and sturdy build. However, for a gaming keyboard that prides itself as a gaming keyboard, the fact that these keys would break from normal usage and select removals is astounding (I use my keyboard on a daily basis but do not abuse it in any way and play pretty casually). I’m disappointed that this would happen, even to a key like the menu key. I can’t recommend it to anyone in this state. I plan on contacting customer support about this, so will update the review accordingly to their response. If it’s not abundantly clear, there is a little plastic case that allows the key to socket onto the stem on the keycap. That part has broken in half so it can’t stay on it anymore.

   you get what you pay for, but now on discount, all the more enticing to purchase. + the brushed aluminum frame finish is the one that really captured my attention. + media controls are definitely a plus! + ability to change the key caps and providing a tool, is much appreciated + smooth to the palm, palm rest and the ease of mounting to the keyboard is brilliant. + having a pass through USB port is very helpful as aides my cable management. – keystroke is something to get used to, if you are coming from traditional office keyboards. – corsair software known to be buggy, but currently works fine for me – if you have a habit of resting your hands on your keyboards while thinking, may need to revisit that, as the rapidfire keys can be triggered with a small amount of pressure e.g. deleting your text on word documents without noticing all in all, this is a very nice keyboard. if you have the budget for it, go ahead and grab one. i have been using this for gaming and work for more than a month now and have not encountered any issues thus far.

   I used to a big fan/evangelist of Corsair until now. I built many computers for myself and friends (50+), so I have a lot of experience in different brands for computer parts. When I first got this keyboard, it was no surprise to me that the build quality is top notch. The base of the keyboard is metal and has a sharp look without having sharp corners or edges. I love how they implemented the volume knob; perfect size and texture. I loved everything about it until one of the keys fell off after only one year of use. I do not play games; I only bought this for programming because that’s my job. Having said that I program mostly on my laptop while in the office, and this was for my home desktop, which I don’t use that often. I have other mechanical keyboards like Filco, WASD, AlienWare, but I never had this key cap issue with my other mechanical keyboards when they are much older. You can see in the picture the key cap mount totally snapped in half. When this happened, I literally took every single key off to examine, and there were like four other key caps where a hairline crack was forming. Normally I would just abandon this brand, but it being Corsair, I gave them the benefit of doubt of just bad luck with the supplier. When I contacted Corsair about it, they said they can only replace the ones with pictures, but the problem is it’s impossible to capture the hairline crack with my cell phone camera. Maybe if I were good at taking close-up photos with the proper lens, I could get them the photos they want, but I am not that guy. When I looked on eBay, these key caps cost $5 per cap when it probably costs them almost nothing. It’s only a matter of time before other keys start falling off, so this is not acceptable for a $100+ keyboard. If I were to pay $5 per key cap when the caps are faulty, it will end up costing me another mechanical keyboard, so I will be dumping this keyboard when more keys fall off. Needless to say I will be abandoning Corsair for good for all computer parts going forward. If they can’t send me parts that cost next to nothing for them to help me salvage an one-year old keyboard, then I can’t trust them for other components either.

    Bought this keyboard in April of 2017. Like the keyboard a lot, however, the W and S keys have broken multiple times now. I’m at a point where I have replaced the ‘W’ key with the ‘D’ key. Not sure if this is typical but I’m now on the market for new keys for when these keys break again. Previous ergonomic keyboards that I bought lasted me years, the keys on this particular keyboard are a bit more sensitive. Any pointers on where to buy new keys would be much appreciated.

    Just bought the k70 with mx speed switches Just to make it clear: I am a full time programmer(day job), part time programmer(side projects) and play games partially(a couple of games of dota every day) This is the best purchase I have ever made. Just ever. To make it clear, here are the parameters that I was evaluating before I bit the bullet to spend a 100 bucks on a keyboard….yeah, 100$ Noise: I have owned cherry mx blues, cherry mx blacks cherry mx blues: I used a clicky mx blue, and the feeling of typing on those was godlike, but, it just made too much noise. Although I never heard complaints from my co-workers(they were really nice, anyone using the same keyboard next to me would have the keyboard smacked across his face), the noise made me consciously consider going for a new keyboard. Too much of it started disturbing my train of thought. I lasted around a year with the blues cherry mx blacks: Love and hate story. I don’t really blame the keyboard, but the keyboard kept making me want for something else. The travel was great, the actuation point was good(I always bottom out. I touch type). But, there was something about those switches that made me feel that something could be better. There was no click, and I loved that. However, it made me bottom out with some amount of force. The blacks that I used were not ‘easy’. They made me look at the keyboard everytime, because I would almost always miss a keystroke, because of the fact that you need to bottom out everytime, with some kind of force. That made me look into the new corsair stuff. Now, let’s get to this keyboard. I read a lot about this before I even though of buying it. However, I saw a few videos where the reviewer says that these keys are actuated almost instantly, and that the force required is similar to that of a red. I immediately went to a local store and saw this on display. And man! It was love! /** please do understand that this is my own experience, and it may significantly vary nothing typed here is set in stone **/ Feel: The keys feel like blacks if you have ever used them, or to be a little clear, they have no ‘click’. There is a very audible feedback, but that is only if you are bottoming out. Obviously, I would not know this in a store. However, now that I own one of these, you can actually register a keypress 30% into the keystroke. That is almost, silent, but way easier on your fingers and also on the sound/noise front. However, the audible ‘clack’ when bottoming out gives a very satisfying feeling. I, for one, would always want to ensure that every key I press bottoms out, but that is a very personal opinion. However, I hated the blacks for making me bottom out almost every time. This is the same, but these keys register even before I bottom out, making it not compulsory, and also ensuring the ease, where I really require lesser force, and hence, can kind of glide over the keyboard. Layout: It is a regular qwerty from atleast what I feel. And like with every new keyboard, it will take a while to get used to the keyboard. However, the learning curve on this one, if you are a touch typist, is not that steep. The keys are perfectly aligned to a regular keyboard that you would code on – depending on what keyboard you code on – and also have a good key-space in between the keys. All in all, It took me a day to get used to the layout, and I don’t think that it would take anyone more that a couple of days to get used to it . Noise: I would not want to use this keyboard if I share a room, and I love bottoming out. When compared to the blues, these are almost in-audible, but again, they do make a very distinct sound when you are furiously typing/coding/gaming. Price: Now this is limited to this particular keyboard. The keyboard is not super solid ‘feeling’. This means that there is a lot of plastic in here, but, the keyboard looks chic! Sometimes, I just look down and think, ‘this is a masterpiece!’….and I don’t even own the RGB, I just have the red backlit version. However, I am a big fan of muted looks, and the rainbow stuff of the keyboards is not my taste, but I would still say that Corsair have done it! If I would recommend a keyboard to anyone based on just the looks, it would be this one. Wrist rest: The wrist rest is a boon! It is good and ensures that the wrists don’t slide off of it..it also gives the keyboard some extra stability. It is removable for those who use a gel rest or for those who don’t prefer one. But I would definitely recommend it to someone who types all day…compared to keyboards who don’t have one, this is super awesome! Gaming: I played a lot of games of DOTA2 with this. They say that boots don’t make a player, but they help! In the same vein, I feel that the keyboard did not help in any way. In some aspects, it was good, like the typing in the chat, etc. However, atleast in my opinion, I did not feel a big difference. And again, I am a part time gamer, or less. So please, take this with a pinch of salt! All in all, this is the best 100$ that I have ever spent. Ever! Corsair, you have won me over! This is a good keyboard, and anyone falling into the same category as me, should either atleast try it out or should go for it….

    I have been using membrane switches all my life, and when I decided to buy a mechanical keyboard, I searched a lot, looked into lots of products, and watched a ton of reviews. I know this may feel a bit too much, but from my position, it is not at all for a couple of reasons: 1. I am from Egypt, and I will be using go-keyboard.com Global for international shipping and so the item must be shippable to here, and there will be import fees. 2. The price of the product is one of the main things to consider since the exchange is rate of the currency is excessively high for me. I was a bit frustrated that most of the items that cost from $25 – $75 are not shippable to Egypt, so I knew that it has to be a well-known brand. After checking multiple keyboards like Razer BlackWidow Chroma, Asus Claymore, Patriot Viper V760, Cougar 700K, Logitech keyboards, SteelSeries Apex, and of course, Corsair K95 and K70, I found that the new K70 RAPIDFIRE has a sale on the RED non-RGB version ($99.99) at the time of purchase. I decided to go for the Corsair because most of the comparisons are at favor of Corsair regarding the performance. Unexpectedly, they only took 3 days to deliver the keyboard at my doorstep, which is amazing for me. I have to say this, this is keyboard is an overkill. Although I could not afford the RGB version, this red-LED is amazing. It is a heavy keyboard with solid build quality that I really liked not those cheap plastic keyboards. That sturdy, brushed aluminum plate is rigid and makes the keyboard look and feel great. I also like the way that the keys are sit above the backboard not within the keyboard itself, which helps in cleaning it. Before I use the mechanical keyboard, I did not understand what else a keyboard could deliver; after all, it is just a keyboard. Then I started to see the difference between having a membrane and mechanical switches yet I could not feel it. Everybody is talking about how good mechanical switches are and their great feeling, and so on. Then my keyboard began to die, and I thought it might be the time to upgrade to something that can last for couple of years. This keyboard will be my main keyboard for gaming, typing, etc. It feels amazing to type on and how pleasant it sounds. It is not as loud as I expected. Moreover, the additional key caps are so nice.
