   I just Got my keyboard today so this is my first impression review. The keyboard itself is really sturdy. Its kind of heavy. which for me isnt either a negative or positive for me, but i know that some people might not like that. The construction quality feels great! There is also a cable routing option underneath the keyboard which allows you to either have the cable come out through the right, middle, of left side of the keyboard. It comes with a small plastic key cap puller which is nice. It definitely does NOT slide around on my desk. It has nice rubber feet so it wont move of scratch up your desk. The font on the keys isnt as bad as some of the other keyboard ive seen. Its not over the top which is good. It has a wrist rest which i feel doesnt really serve its purpose. its just plastic, so there isnt anything special about it. if youre use to having a wrist rest, this will not replace it. As for the RGB, its great! even during the day, they light up great! There are a lot of different ways to customize the colors to your specific needs. it is a little confusing at first, but you should get the hang of it. the instructions that come with the keyboard can be hard to understand. One of the things that i dont really like is that depending on what effect you last used, the same Fn key can have different functions. For example, if you want to adjust the overall color of the keyboard you press fn+pause, but if you previously used Fn+PgDn to adjust the side panel color, Fn+Pause now doesnt do anything. The only way i can go back to make Fn+Puase work is if i go back to one of my saved setting using Fn+1,2,or 3.it can be a little confusing at first to get your mind around it. This is most likely due to my inexperience though so im not taking points off. all the the effects on this keyboard are great! The colors look nice and vibrant. and i really like that you can customize individual key colors. This is my very first mechanical keyboard so i dont really feel qualified to speak about the switches. However, it is definitely louder than my old membrane keyboard. The key caps are sturdy and dont feel wobbly at all. I should mention that none of the symbols for lighting effect or multimedia controls light up (look at pictures) which is not a big deal for me. It would be nice if there was software so that it was much easier to customize the colors. But having it this way allows for plug and play. The option would be nice though. overall, i am really glad that i purchased this keyboard! i was on the fence for a while since i have never invested more that $20 on a keyboard, but this keyboard surpassed all of my expectations. I would definitely recommend this keyboard! Ill go ahead and put in some of the controls that ive gotten down so far just in case anybody needs them since the manual can be a little convoluted. Fn+F11: Individual Key Colors ( press individual keys to change color, then press Fn+F11 to save) Fn+Pause: Entire Keyboard Colors Fn+Ins: Different Setting (ripple effect, only keys that you type on will light up, and others) Fn+Home: Breathing Fn+Pgup: Slow color Gradient Change Fn+Del: Turns Backlight Off on Keys and side panel Fn+End: Rainbow Effect (press twice to change direction) Fn+PgDn: Change Side Panel Colors Fn+1,2,3: Change to Saved Profiles (use Fn+F11 to customize each profile) Fn+Right/Left: Adjust Speed of Effect Fn+Up/Down: Adjust Brightness Fn+F12: Macro Key Management Fn+Windows: Locks Windows Key Fn+PrtSc and Fn+ScrLk: i dont know what these keys do. they have no effect when i press them. maybe they only do something after you have implemented a different setting. if anybody has any questions feel free to ask, ill do my best to answer them.

   I have been using a Cherry MX-blue mechanical keyboard for a while now. Unfortunately I spilled water on it and a few buttons stopped working. A colleague recommended me this keyboard. As I was looking to move on to a more silent keyboard, buying this cherry MX brown keyboard made perfect sense. I have used it for a while now and I have been impressed. It is worth every penny! It is very smooth, is way more quiet than my previous keyboard. The keystrokes are perfect in my opinion, not dull at all even thought it is quiet. The problem most quiet keyboards face is that they can be mushy to click, this one does not have any of that issue. Another upgrade compared to my previous keyboard is that it has fully RGB backlit with multiple settings to choose from. I usually keep the lights off at night when I am on my computer, so having a bright backlit keyboard helps while typing. Construction seems very sturdy too and they even provided me with a tool to open key caps if I ever wanted to put on custom key caps. Very pleased with this product and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a mechanical keyboard.

Read on to find out more… == Package Content & Design == HAVIT HV-KB389L Keyboard comes in the usual packaging like other Havit products. And it is well protected with foam holder. You can find its user guide, keycap puller and feedback card there too. Be sure to take your time to go through the guide as there are lot of customizations can be done. Yes, lot of LED light animations here and there. That’s all, no Windows CD driver because it is plug and play. Unlike other keyboard, HAVIT HV-KB389L comes with built-in wrist rest. This definitely improve the overall ergonomic. And build quality is decent with solid hard plastics. There are 4 large LED light indicators on top right corner. The usual 3 indicators for nums, caps and scroll locks plus addition one for Windows key. Yup, it supports Windows key lock function which will help to prevent pressing it while playing games. A must have for hardcore gamers, right? The 1.8m cable is loaded with magnet ring and USB plug is gold plated. Furthermore, you can adjust cable location to be left, center or right to suit your existing PC setup. Quite heavy but it’s good as it provides better stability. Thanks to the 5 anti-skid pads and another 2 rubber anti-skid pads on keyboard legs too. Yes, there is a unique side RGB backlit strip along the keyboard. And you can customize it as well. Just pick the colour that you like to brighten your day. Do check out those high profile keycaps too. 6 multimedia shortcuts are there for you. I always love keyboard with volume control shortcut. No need to find my speaker remote and I can control sound volume with keyboard directly. Yup, you can launch media player, play/pause and stop songs with these shortcuts. Mute shortcut is included too. Besides control these multimedia functions with FN key, you can use it to adjust LED light effects too. Same apply to custom key backlit and macro management. Yup, macro keys are supported even without any software installation. You can use Fn + Y / U / I / O / P combo to execute the marco that you want. Not as fast as dedicated keys but better than no at all, right? == Performance Result == Who don’t love gaming keyboard with colourful illuminated keys? I believe everyone do. HAVIT HV-KB389L has them no doubt. However, the LED lights are not as bright as my other keyboards. And do not cover all the keycap sides. Hmm… Maybe that’s part of its design – LED light is deep inside the brown switch. No worry, all the keys still can be seen in dark environment. And does not affect the real usage purpose here. For those love to play with LED light effects, you are going to love HAVIT HV-KB389L. There are really a lot of effects and combinations. 4 interactive (single key, ripple, zone & speed), breathing, always on and backlit scans modes for you to play. You can select multi-colour or 7 single colours on each modes. Control the brightness and animation speed too. Do check out this video for all the backlit settings and effects. Don’t forget that you can set your own LED colour on the keys that you want like photo below. Up to 3 profiles. By the way, there are 3 brightness levels to select. And you can also turn it off totally. Those who love quiet keyboard will going to love Kailh brown switches (they sound almost like membrane keyboard). Yup, they do not have the loud click-click sound like Kailh blue switches yet still have the tactile bump feeling. Do take note that they require slightly less force for actuation and much lesser tactile feel compare to the blue ones. A great alternative for those who want feedback from the mechanical keyboard but without the loud clicking. Full 104 anti-ghosting keys (or n-key rollover)!!! That’s reason that you buy a mechanical keyboard, right? HAVIT HV-KB389L supports it no doubt. Yes, every single key is scanned independently. Windows will able to detect regardless of how many keys are being pressed or held down at the time. Perfect for fast paced gaming and a must for hardcore gamer like you.    RK PRO104 Macro Setting RGB Backlit Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Brown Switches (Black) Received this keyboard with uncertain expectations and was quite pleased with it! The one I received unfortunately, did come with a defective front facing case LED. There was something rattling around inside and when I popped 3 of the bottom case screws out and shook the keyboard, a piece of solder fell out. Uhoh. However, Hiraliy’s CS Rep. Jessica was very helpful and even offered me a replacement or a partial refund without having to send the defective one back. In the end, I decided to go with the replacement as I absolutely love this keyboard for use in the office, replacing a Xinmeng K916 that is now used for gaming. Update: The replacement keyboard was said to take 2 weeks to make it to me, however just days after confirming the replacement, I was provided with tracking information for it and will be receiving it in about just under a week from when it was confirmed. Not too bad at all. With my replacement on the way, I decided to tear into the defective board and I was able to locate the issue with the front facing LED, the wire connecting the front LED was actually punched through by one of the plastic posts that hold the PCB in place. But where did that piece of solder come from? Maybe just off a random piece from the assembly line? Anyways, I was able to splice the 2 wires that were damaged and now after having re-assembled the keyboard, it is fully functioning. After having pulled this keyboard apart, I was impressed to find a full metal plate under the large plastic shroud, figured it was all plastic and the PCB was very cleanly soldered and put together, looks like a very good quality unit from inside and out. This keyboard comes with Long Hua Brown Switches. Long Hua is actually Kailh, but using their original name, if my memory is correct. I received 2 keycap pullers, though I suspect only 1 is normally provided, and 2 manuals, one in English even! I have had nothing but good experiences with this keyboard so far and have replaced the stock keycaps with a set of SA Carbon keycaps and it makes for an amazing office keyboard, especially with the 10key. In fact, so far since I’ve gotten this keyboard, less than a week ago, I’ve gotten one of my colleagues to buy one and is using it right now, along with a few others who are planning on ordering their own soon. The RGB LED lighting, in my opinion, is a little limited? I would have been happy to see some more options for effects and so forth, but having said that, all the ones provided on the board are nice and certainly nothing that would give reason to remove a star from this item, especially considering the price point compared to other keyboards of it’s calibre. The effects that are included are great and look awesome with the nice and bright LED’s. My biggest complaint, and I will admit I was a little saltier about it than maybe I should have been, just days after having purchased this board for $69 USD, the price dropped to !!!!$55USD!!!! and has slowly crept back up since, now sitting at around $63 USD. I have since gotten two of my work colleagues to purchase this board for the office and a few others are now interested in it too.

   I bought this keyboard back in June of 2017. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The wrist wrest is pretty nice as well although it is a hard plastic one. The RGB lighting is pretty stunning for the price. It also has a cable routing system underneath the keyboard which is super helpful for wire management. Of course with all of these pros for this keyboard there must be cons. Obviously, after some time the keys texture wares out after using it for so long. That’s the least of the worries for me. I am not sure if this keyboard is for gaming as well but quite a few keys near the WASD keys are unresponsive at times or type double.

   7 of my LED’s are very dim they work using the custom settings but very dim. Also the Number-lock Key light that shows that the number-lock is on does not work at all. Other than that the feel of the keyboard is awesome!

   I liked their other keyboard quite a bit but it was very loud so I ordered this one. It’s not as good because for some reason it stops working sometimes when the computer goes to sleep. Not sure why.

   What I DID NOT appreciate however is that the company added me to a mailing list to solicit a review of this keyboard – this a violation of Canadian Canspam legislation. As a result I am considering returning both keyboards.
