   I started buying Logitech keyboards a few years ago because the dongle seemed great to remove cables and to leave on the laptop when I travelled. Eventually I found myself going back to typing more again and could not stand the thin designs of the Logitech’s and even worse, the cheaper products had poor switches. During the pandemic, I rediscovered that I’d rather have the power of a desktop and mechanical keyboards and it was great to let me be able to type and code much easier again like before. The keyboard came as it looks on the main product images. I upgraded the keycaps material with PBT because it feels nicer to type on, but it would be nice if KeyChron sold a version of the keyboard with PBT keycaps so it has all the secondary functions noted on the keycaps F1-F12 keys. For a fullsize keyboard, I think they would realize that a lot of users would be using Excel with it, and it would be handy that the Cortana key could be remapped as the scroll lock key. I managed to use PowerToys to remap the Cortana keystroke as scroll lock, but whenever possible, I would love something that came right out of the box with scroll lock. Having removeable keycaps and switches are great, they definitely can prolong the product. I relegated the old keyboards to my IoT devices.

   El diseño es minimalista pero no totalmente monocromatico lo cual prefiero personalmente. La ventaja de un teclado como este es que en caso de quisiera cambiar los switches por que no me agrada la sensacion de los que vienen incluidos puedo hacerlo. personalmente me esta costando un poco acostumbrarme a la fuerza de activacion del switch y tal vez en un futuro lo cambie de gateron brown a gateron black para que no sea tan sensible.

   Lo mismo aplica para las teclas, son ABS asi que se desgastan mucho mas rapido que otras hechas de PBT, pero si en un futuro lo veo necesario puedo reemplazarlas.

   El cable es intercabiable y por los tanto tambien puede ser reemplazable. Y el unico problema para mi seria que tiene un sonido muy hueco pero eso se arregla facilmente rellenando el fondo del teclado con silicon o foam/esponja para reducir el ruido del teclado, y eso facilmente lo puedes encontrar en tutoriales.

   I love the C2! First mechanical keyboard. Loved it so much that I bought a second Keychron keyboard the K3 V2 for wireless and lower profile. I never realized how much I missed the mechanical switches. I went with the hotswappable so could change the feel as often as I wanted since I did not know which switch suited me best. Although the brown switch is very common, I would recommend them due to the red being almost too light for my preference. Be warned that customization is almost infinite so prepare for a journey.

   UPDATE:
   The Keychron support was quick to send me a ticket and with their initial response, but after I provided what they needed from me including the short clip of what was wrong with the product, I hadn’t heard from them for days. I understand that their support team could have been from a different timezone or country, but as I mentioned in my original review, I need the keyboard right away. I ended up filing a return and replace ticket through go-keyboard.com instead. The first one was picked up yesterday, and the replacement (Same Keychron C2 full-size mechanical keyboard) arrived this morning. The replacement keyboard is what I have been using while typing this update review.
   Everything I loved about the keyboard and this time with none of the problem with it being connected and used on my MacBook.
   I think the first one had some kind of technical problem inside it.
   Both keyboards arrived unopened and there wasn’t any outward sign that would indicate it was damaged at all. The chord connecting the keyboard to the device worked with my Windows laptop, even though I had a problem connecting the keyboard to my MacBook, this is why I don’t think the problem was the chord itself.
   All in all, I’m happy with this purchase.
   I just think Keychron needs to do something about that connectivity issue that some of their keyboards have. I’m changing my rating to 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
   I’m also very happy when it comes to go-keyboard.com’s speed when it comes to the process of returning and replacing my keyboard.

   I ordered this because I was looking for a mechanical keyboard with a linear switch in the hopes of elevating my wrists and joint pains. I type fast and a lot every day, so I had been in search of a keyboard that would help with both my productivity, and lessen the stress on my hands. This keyboard, at least Keychron keyboards had been reviewed to provide both by some Youtube reviewers. I chose this particular model because I wanted a full-sized one, and it is wired. This model is also compatible with both Windows and MacOS (more on this later). It also has RGB and I think the keys look good. I admit I wanted both the linear switches, and that I could change the keycaps later on to make it look the way I wanted it to. This model is marketed to provide everything I was looking for.

   Now let’s get to the actual review:

   The typing experience was awesome. The keys are buttery soft, and the pressure required of my fingers to push down on the keys isn’t much so that’s something that’s going to be good for my joints in the long run. The feet to lift it up for ergonomic purposes was also something that was perfect for me, even though it’s something I didn’t even consider when I made this purchase. It was a very nice surprise. The RGB lights are bright and pretty. The keycaps are sleek, and the font on them also looks nice. This came with a detachable wire to connect to your system, as well as extra keycaps and keycap pullers you can use depending on which OS you’re using the keyboard for. It also has a toggle right beside where the wire is plugged to switch between Windows and MacOS. All those were good and well, and really awesome.

   The problem for me was IT DOESN’T WORK ON MY MAC! It’s supposed to work on both OS, but I primarily use my Macbook Air so I needed this keyboard to work specifically for my Mac. That isn’t the case. Straight out of the box, I plugged it into my USB adapter, and all it did was flash the backlights, and the sensor for Mac that was located on top of the num keys just kept flashing the whole time. Even when it stopped flashing, and when I thought that it finally is working, it still didn’t.
   I had to google how to try and fix it, and I tried all the things I was told to do except one. I can’t plug it in straight up to my Macbook. It’s a USB 2 and the Macbook only has a USB-C port (the same reason I’m using an adapter in the first place).

   I plugged it in on my old HP laptop, and it worked, yes. The problem is I need it to work on my Macbook. If it had worked on my Mac and not on my HP laptop, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I was done with the old laptop that’s why I have a Macbook now. The only reason I hadn’t thrown the old HP laptop away is that it still powers on even though it takes 48 years to do so, lol.
   As you’ll see I’m very aggravated about this issue. I was so excited for this keyboard to arrive after ordering and then it doesn’t work, lol.

   I contacted their support, and I was given a ticket. Support sent an email the following day, asking for both the go-keyboard.com order #, the order invoice, and the serial # of the keyboard, as well as a video of what the problem with the keyboard was.
   I still haven’t heard back from them since I provided everything they’ve asked for. I’ll update the review once I hear back from them.

   This is the best feeling keyboard I have used. I can type much faster on it than on my previous keyboard. Loud, but it is expected from blue switches. Everybody that saw it, mentioned that it has a nice design. Item arrived 1 month early than estimated backorder date. Considering that it has RGB backlight and hot swappable switches, it has excellent value for money (I paid $74).

   I really like this keyboard with the Gateron Brown switches. My old keyboard was very clicky this one is much better. Overall its a nice keyboard and looks nice. Ill probably get some new keycaps since the white will probably dirty fast. The white looks awesome though!

   I’ve always wanted to get a hot swappable keyboard ever since Glorious put out their GMMK keyboard. The idea of swapping out the switches without doing any sort of soldering intrigued me as my soldering skills are garbage, and DIY keyboard kits were A) very expensive, B) very rarely full size, and C) required soldering. The GMMK solved those issues by being affordable, available in full size, and did not require soldering due to the hot swappable nature. However, I found the price to be a bit steep for a complete keyboard. At around $110 it was a tough ask. Here’s where the Keychron C2 comes in. The keyboard was cheaper at $75, and came with perfectly serviceable Gateron Brown tactile switches. The Gateron Brown switch is itself a clone of Cherry’s MX Brown, a tactile switch within the keyboard community is seen as “not really tactile” due to the very minute tactility that these switches provide. The Gaterons were no exception – they felt okay but the tactility is nonexistent, and I quickly replaced those with extremely tactile and clicky Kailh Box Jades, a switch that is renowned for its tactility and loudness. Much improved in my opinion. The C2 also can come with Gateron Blues (a clone of the clicky Cherry MX Blue) or Gateron Reds (a clone of the linear MX Red). I went with the browns as my old Das Keyboard had MX Blue switches, so I wanted to try something different, even if I was going to replace the switches anyway. Aesthetically, I much prefer the look of the C2 over the GMMK; it looks a lot more professional compared to the floating switch design that the GMMK sports, a look that is quickly becoming favored for gaming keyboards. By comparison, the C2 looks a lot more conventional. It has tall(er) sides, compared to the lack of sides on the GMMK, the keycaps do not have a stenciled “gamer” font like the GMMK, and there is no hokey “Glorious PC race” surrounding it like the GMMK, or the Hexgears Impulse which has too much RGB lighting even for me, and I like RGB lighting. I personally would not hesitate to use this board in an office environment (granted with quieter switches than the raucous Box Jades I currently am using). I did replace the keycaps on my C2 because I do like customizing my board, and I prefer the feel of grainier PBT keycaps over the stock ABS keycaps that the board comes with. That said, the keycaps the board comes with are perfectly fine. This keyboard is even great for Mac users, and in fact out of the box the board is set up for Mac use, with extra keycaps provided to switch to Windows use; a selector on the back of the keyboard switches the board from either Mac use or Windows use. In fact, I would say this board would be a better option than an Apple Magic Keyboard due to the cost of this board versus a Magic Keyboard, and the fact you can swap out the switches to your liking. I do wish though this keyboard was wireless, either through Bluetooth or through a USB dongle. It does come with a nice detachable USB cable, so you can get a custom cable if you want, but a wireless option would have been better; indeed, Keychron’s other keyboards (such as their hot swappable K2 and K8 models are wireless so I would’ve expected that for this as well. My only major gripe is the lack of a scroll lock key. In order to modernize the standard keyboard layout a bit, Keychron ditched the Scroll Lock and Pause/Break keys, and removed the SysReq function from the Print Screen key. The Pause/Break key now controls the backlighting. This is a good thing as who the heck uses the Pause/Break key in everyday instances and means that there’s no extra software to install for your computer which is a massive boost over the GMMK. The Scroll Lock key however is now a dedicated Cortana (Windows) or Siri (Mac) button depending on which mode the keyboard is in. I am sure there are people who use these services on their computers, but I find myself accidentally triggering Cortana when I do not want to, and others have done the same. I wish there was an easy way to disable that and either have the key as a scroll lock or just as an unbound dummy key that does not do anything. Luckily, the Print Screen key was left alone aside from the aforementioned removal of the System Request feature. Do I recommend this board? Absolutely. Cortana/Siri triggering issues aside, this is probably the best complete hot-swappable full size keyboard on the market. I know kits are available; Glorious sells one for $60 and Epomaker sells one for $90, but $75 gets you a complete keyboard with RGB backlighting ($65 for white backlighting). Its professional aesthetic looks great with anything, and the customization aspect is perfect. If you’re looking for a hot-swappable board, look no further.
