   I have been using this keyboard for a couple of days now, and it’s been a absolute thrill to use! Here are some of the pros and cons. Pros: Great Quality Amazing Compatibility Perfect Size ( for me anyway ) Beautiful White Backlight Excellent Battery Life Limitless Customization Superb Typing Experience Cons: Occasional lag while typing ( I suspect its the Blue Tooth ) Occasional key chattering The white backlight is amazing. It’s very crisp and clean looking with a lot of different lighting effects. Overall, this is a great keyboard for the average keyboard enthusiast. Highly Recommend!

   I own about 10 keyboards, and dabble in the custom mechanical hobby. I type about 2,000 words a day as a transcriptionist and do light online gaming.

   Pros: This keyboard takes up minimal desk space, while still allowing for a dedicated DEL key and navigation keys.
   My opinion was formed after I purchased my first one from Ebay. I now have 3 Keychrons, with different switches and fun mods, and rotate them as daily drivers for work and play.
   They seem to improve the sound of every switch I’ve swapped in it. You can hot swap all the MX-style 3/5 pin options. All key cap profiles are compatible. The only mods I use on this build are switch pads.

   Cons: I edit long papers several times a day, and one con is this particular layout is that the delete key is not separated by any board, so keys can appear smushed together.

   I have no problem with their new products but their idea of “Used: Very good” is very liberal. I know I bought “Used: Very good” but this product was defective and deceitful. Multiple keys do not work, a keycap was put on backwards and the switches are all Keychron optical reds, not the Gateron G Pro red mechanical switches as advertised. Definitely not what I would qualify as “Used: Very good”. Let me wondering if they intended to deceive or were just negligent in testing a returned product. Will be returning and hoping they don’t try to sell it to anyone else.

   Let me start off by saying that this is my first mechanical keyboard after switching from the chicklet style Magic Keyboard so its a little bit hard to gauge the good from the bad. I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about this board. It’s pretty lightweight as I got the plastic frame version and it’s decently compact. I only ordered this board because I started going down the mech rabbit hole so this was one of my first options considering I’m inside of the Apple ecosystem heavy. The Bluetooth range is impressive. It rivals Apple’s native keebs. The hot-swap sockets are a huge plus. I configured mine with the Gateron Brown switches but I’m planning to swap them out for Zilents or Tealios. Overall I’m very satisfied with this board. The keys feel pretty good out of the box but I’ll probably end up changing those as well to a different profile. I’m not a gamer by any means, I just use it for typing so take this review with a grain of salt. If you type a lot then it’ll feel great for you but I can’t speak on how it games, Definitely a satisfactory purchase and most definitely wont be my last from Keychron.

   I thought buying this on go-keyboard.com used in “like-new” condition would be fine, but it stopped working after only a short period. And the two switches on the side for wired/wireless and Mac/Windows became loose like they were connected to anything. I was suspicious as to why it would stop working since I hadn’t dropped it or damaged it, so I unscrewed the keyboard from the frame to look under the hood. Sure enough, you can see the damage in the pictures. There are pieces that have become detached permanently and in the picture of the mainframe you can clearly see the switch is broken off on one side. I believe the seller knew this keyboard was broken and lied about it being in “Like New” condition. I also blame K2 for a flimsy design because it looks like the connections could be easily broken. Do not buy this keyboard used, don’t buy it on go-keyboard.com or you could get scammed, and honestly I’d recommend buying a mechanical keyboard from a completely different company. Don’t throw $65+ down the drain like I did.

    So I picked up this Keychron K2 to upgrade my typing experience. I was coming from a Logitech, bluetooth, backlit keyboard, which was a fantastic keyboard. However it had low profile and membrane keys, so I was ready to upgrade and treat my fingers right after abusing that one for years. I got the K2 with the brown flavor of switches, and they feel great. My favorite feature about this keyboard is the hot-swappable switches. I had some Cherry MX keys left over from a test kit, so I wasted no time swapping some of the modifier keys out. The K2 is the perfect size on my desk, it fits well, and it looks sharp. It’s nice and simple, has all the keys you need, and nothing you don’t. I also got the keyboard with white only backlit LEDs because RGB is gross and I don’t need a keyboard doing all the colors of the rainbow when I’m trying to work. Speaking of the LEDs, I leave them off because the battery on this keyboard is awful, I’m plugging it in every few days. What good is a wireless keyboard if it has to charge all the time, granted I do leave it on all the time without the standby mode enabled because it’s just terrible and takes too long to wake. The Logitech keyboard lasted probably a month of usage with backlit keys on, and what’s nice about that one, it was always ready to go, no standby. Also the backlight would come on with the slightest touch to the keyboard. The LED’s in the Keychron K2, while they work and they’re really nice in the dark, I could do without all the ridiculous, distracting lighting effects. Seriously, who wants those on a white backlit only keyboard. It’s rather difficult to find the static preset, and when the keyboard dies, you lose the light setting you were on and have to painfully cycle through all of them again. I just want a keyboard that works when I need it, I don’t need bling, I don’t need to impress anyone with it when it’s my own personal keyboard I use to get my work done. All in all, the Keychron K2 is a great board and I’ll continue to rock it, but those lighting effects are annoying and the battery sucks.

    I use this mechanical keyboard when I travel onsite and work with my laptop for extended periods. The Bluetooth connection to my Dell laptop works well and is convenient. The size/functionality seems perfect since it is small enough for travel, yet retains many of the keys I need for editing documents and programming (arrows, delete, page up, page down, home, and end). The OEM profile keycaps are doubleshot ABS and look custom due to the carbon/white color scheme with orange accents. This color scheme is much better looking than the gray color scheme used on some of Keychron’s other keyboards. Although the K2 keycaps have a great color scheme, they also have smallish font which makes them harder to read and limits the amount of backlight which can shine through. PROS * Simple and reliable Bluetooth connection to my laptop * USB C connection for charging or wired use * Good quality Gateron brown switches do not skip keypresses or create multiple keypresses like some of the other non-Cherry brands I’ve used, i.e., Outemu * Convenient size which strikes a balance between portability and functionality * Very comfortable to type on all day and quiet enough to not disturb coworkers (especially with O-ring switch dampeners installed to make the sound softer if a keypress bottoms out) CONS * Small font on the keycaps affects legibility and diminishes the effectiveness of the backlighting

    Keychron Review tl;dr: Fair price for an accurate, comfortable, and pretty mechanical keyboard that is both Mac and Windows friendly. Bought this direct from manufacturer so I could order the switchable keycaps I wanted. Read the go-keyboard.com reviews first, which were dismaying. But other products that had the features I wanted were either not Mac-friendly or were not in price range. ** Remember that adjusting to mechanical keyboards can take some practice. ** This is no different than upgrading clarinets and learning the keys again, or getting a new car and fudging the distance to engage the clutch, or moving to a new apartment and walking into the door frame on the way to the bathroom at night, none of which are things that I would know first hand, just surmising a guess. I have used mechanical keyboards for almost 10 years and my most recent keyboard was a different budget 65% mechanical with blue switches that lasted 4 years. It still works fine but wanted to try different switches and it wasn’t swappable. This is my first time using brown switches and it definitely took a few days (aka 40 hours of work/programming/emails) to get used to the lower actuation force and shorter pre-travel strike distance. ** Again, this is just a normal part of re-training your muscle memory. ** Or whatever, probably similar to getting a new cat and still petting it the way you used to scratch your former beloved’s ears while mindlessly staring at the TV and now having to learn the new sweet spot on the new cat, idk, just surmising a guess. I like that the keys were very easily swappable, not just for aesthetics but also so it is easier for me to clean the undercarriage of cat hair. There was no work needed on the software/OS side, just plug and go, and I like that the browns don’t make as much noise as my old blues when I’m on audio. The backlighting is nice but I wish that it was brighter and I don’t think you can get quite the level of lighting customization for a Mac with any mechanical keyboard the way that you can with other keys and iCue for Windows. That said, the keyboard worked seamlessly when I flipped the side switch for Windows and used it on my Windows 10 Professional laptop which I use for gaming. When plugged into my Mac and with the side switch turned on for Mac, I was also able to use my Windows machine through the Microsoft Remote Desktop through my Mac, and used Mac shortcuts for the Mac side but Windows keyboard shortcuts for the Windows mirror, without needing to switch the side-key. ** This is just a nice perk of keyboards that are truly cross-compatible without extra adjustments needed. ** I imagine this is similar to speaking Spanish with your in-laws and Korean with your friends and although the two languages are mutually unintelligible, your brain just knows when to switch in a party conversation, but idk, just guessing to help with your understanding. I think the other reviewers who are complaining about the keys are just sloppy typers (**THERE, I said it**) and are not being patient enough with their inner souls and muscles enough to just see it through. Or maybe they picked the wrong switches and should hot-swap them for another style. ** I imagine this is like when you move to another part of the country and think, well, how different could it be from here, and then you get there and realize that the subculture is not a good fit for you, or maybe you picked the wrong place, but you blame the environment or new people instead of giving yourself time to adjust or moving somewhere else.
