I’ve been using this keyboard for a bit over 3 weeks. I ordered it because honestly, it looked cool & also I was looking for a mechanical keyboard. The keyboard arrived in this black sleek looking package – came with simple manuals, one of them is a graphic manual of shortcuts. First impression was it looked quite sturdy & heavy. The keyboard is pretty thick, so you may want to consider getting a wrist rest. The package came with some extra caps for windows functionality, such as ALT key. Charging it fully took a few hours, but I was still able to use the keyboard during charge. You can also opt to use cable instead of bluetooth. There are 2 slide toggles on the side of it – Windows/MacOS & Cable/Off/Bluetooth. Connecting it to my Macbook Pro was seamless. Adding another device to connect with they keyboard was also easy & switching devices to use the keyboard was surprisingly seamless as well. It can connect up-to 3 devices. Keyboard will go to sleep after an inactivity for 10 minutes, but you can change that in the setting & it connects right away to your device after you “wake” it up. The manufacturer claims that the battery life is 4 weeks without the backlight. It sounds about right as I’ve been using it for around 3 weeks & haven’t had the need to recharge. The lights are definitely cool to be switched on in the dark with 15+ effects. I love it that it’s MacOS compatible & preserves those Mac functionalities – huge plus. It also feels great to type on the keyboard. My fingers are quite happy & so are my ears – loving the sound of the clicking noise from mechanical keyboards. All-in-all… I’m very satisfied with the keyboard. PS: I got the Gateron blue switch one, which is more “clicky”. If you like something that’s more tactile, then I suggest going with the Gateron brown switch.

pros feels sturdy, responsive, quickly linked to my Mac mini M1, etc…been looking for a mechanical keyboard I wouldn’t feel bad spending more than 50 USD on. The price might be a little higher on go-keyboard.com than on the Keychron website, but shipping was fast, about 24hrs, WOW. I paired it with a Logitech g305 and I’m cruising. I got the one with the brown switches, based on reviews it falls in the middle, no too quiet, not too loud. I also like it comes with a USB cable, very convenient. I’ve only had it for a couple of days and so far it’s been a pleasure to use. Some complain about its height, I don’t see the problem, at least not yet. I have it slightly tilted and it’s comfortable. I type up quite a bit, currently in the middle of editing a couple of medical research articles for publishing, and this keychron k2 feels so much better than my run of the mill keyboard. I rarely use the numeric keypad, for those who work with numbers I think they might be better off with a separate pad or a different keyboard. cons way too many options, newbies like me wouldn’t know where to start. lol…

For me, appreciation of keyboards is like an artist’s appreciation for pens. I’ve been hacking on keyboards since my IBM PC XT in the ’80s, so I’m especially fond of good tactile feedback, and working in my own home office find the click of the blue switch to be quite satisfying when coding and writing. Things I love about this keyboard: – good solid weight to it – although plastic, it looks and feels like a quality product – I didn’t feel the need to do anything to modify the keys as other reviewers have mentioned; for me the amount of travel, pressure, and feedback is perfect – this is my first keyboard that lets me effortlessly/instantly toggle between my iMac (fn+1), iPad (fn+2), and iPhone (fn+3) – suits my decor and looks awesome to me – while I don’t care for all the light patterns that are available, I do like the subdued blue glow effect as you press each key; as far as I’m concerned they got this just right — helpful in a dark environment, but not distracting to me at all (see video) Things I hate about the keyboard: – nothing Things that would make me love the keyboard even more: – I realize they optimized for wireless life, but dang I wish it had a USB port to plug in my security key for work (see second picture) – ok, yes, I’d sacrifice a bit of the heft of this keyboard to be able to lower it a few millimeters I thought about giving this only 4 stars because a truly perfect keyboard would also give me what’s on my wishlist above, but I’m giving it a 5-star rating because I have spent hundreds of dollars per keyboard, like my happy hacking keyboard, and none has given me as much overall satisfaction as this one. For the price, this is truly a remarkable value. UPDATE after almost 2 months of use * The left the original review (above) after about a month of use. Nearing the end of the second month, I want to confirm I stand by the review and continue to be very happy with this keyboard. The only thing to be aware of is that people do find my blue switch to be quite loud when I’m in meetings, especially if I’m demoing something. So I’ve just been using the magic keyboard that came with my iMac Pro for demos, but I don’t like switching to such a radically different feel. I’ve been reluctant to get o-ring dampeners, but I might have to go that route instead. But other than complaints from others around how audible the clicking sounds to them, I absolutely love the look, feel, sound, and features of this keyboard personally. UPDATE after half a year of use (Jan 8, 2021) * Still love the keyboard. Pressing Fn-1|2|3 to switch between my iMac, my iPad, and my PixelBook is awesome. * I did have to tame the audible click noise and finally added o-rings a couple of months ago. I consider my keyboard perfect and while I know it’s an issue for others, it’s height doesn’t bother me at all. Just heard today the K3 might be thinner. If it feels as good as this has close to the same solid heft this one has, I might go for it, but I’m happy for now.

my main concern with the k2 was its height, but coming from a redragon k552 this wasn’t such a big difference for me. I’d rather have 4000mah than a low profile k3 or k1 keyboard. I like the compact profile without getting rid of the function and multimedia keys. The only key I miss is the PrtSc key, but I found a sniping shortcut I can use. This keyboard is great, especially since I love tactile/brown switches and I can customize specific keycaps. I got the plastic case with only one backlight color. That’s good ‘nough for me. And as you can see, I repurposed my old 12.9 ipad pro case as a wrist rest! (1st or 2nd gen case)! The reason this isn’t perfect for me is because when typing and hitting the backspace key, my ringfinger hits the pageup key, which is very annoying. Tkl boards have a small gap that I’m apparently used to.

This keyboard is perfect for my office use. Easy to type on, satisfying feel and clickyness. Charged it when I got it almost three weeks ago, and it’s still going strong. One thing I’ll note is that you better get a wrist rest for it, as it’s fairly chunky and can be uncomfortable without one imo. Still, it’s a great keyboard and I’ll highly recommended it. That USB-C port is secured … by the ^#$%#$ contacts. It will break. Just a little more reinforcement on the port … would have been great. Returned the first. This one … I’m just going to mod myself. Ugh. I would rather have an insert key than a printscreen key, but that’s my only complaint after a week on it. Works well with my debian laptop and windows workstation – and I was able to remap the right control key to insert (per device) with xmodmap and Microsoft PowerToys. <3

The keyboard is fine but the LED lights behind one of my keys went out after only 2 months and Keychron has awful customer service. I use a mac but their firmware update for the keyboard only works on PC. So I had to go find a windows machine to run the update. That didn’t fix it the light. Then they said they would offer only $15 after I spent $80 on the keyboard. They have a 12-month warranty for any defects. I disagreed with that then they ask me to pay to ship it back to them. I should not have to pay to send back a defective product. They should have immediately sent out a replacement to me and that has yet to happen. I would NOT recommend this keyboard.

I was looking for a keyboard that would fit in the pull-out keyboard tray on my new desk. Only requirements were that it must be 75% width and have quiet mechanical switches. This was the lowest-priced option in the market, and honestly probably the best option. I love the white backlight, the numerous backlight modes, and not having to install more computer software just to use it. My primary complaint is the height: it’s just not comfortable to type on as a result of the height. And after looking at a teardown video of this keyboard, there is no good reason for it to be. There is so much empty space around the battery inside the keyboard. I’m waiting on a wrist rest to arrive which will hopefully fix this problem. Aside from that, I’m happy with the overall quality.

I am more and more satisfied with this keyboard over time.

I bought it for a Macbook and was immediately happy with it: keys feel good, wired or wireless were a breeze, the cable is of good quality, the manual is clear and straightforward, the keyboard feels robust, etc..
Recently I tried the keyboard on Windows and only remembered after a while that there’s a switch on the side per-system because I didn’t need the multimedia keys and everything just worked anyway. But after making the switch, multimedia keys work perfectly too.
It took about ten seconds to find the quick guide to the keyboard too. Just a great experience overall, and frankly worth the investment for the long haul.

This is what I wanted 75% layout keyboard, I got Gateron Brown Switch and I am loving the clicking sound so far. Before this, I was using a membrane keyboard from DELL, and I will never go back. Was wonderful to use while it worked, though I would highly recommend a wrist pad for continuous use! For my first mechanical keyboard, it exceeded my expectations and was a joy to type and game on. I had no issues with Bluetooth or wired connectivity at any point. However, starting in May, the middle 4 columns (from Y to O, F6 to F9, as in first photo) were registering as pressing the entire row, while the rest of the keyboard continued to work normally. Opened it up to find the corresponding pins on the IC controller (see second photo) had corroded away completely, making any kind of repair virtually impossible. Might’ve just been an isolated case, but still disappointed that it failed so quickly and unevenly.

This is my first mechanical keyboard, and I’m using it with a new (2022) 14″ Macbook Pro. What I like: – I have the red version. The keys are very responsive. I like the clicky feel of the keys and the sound. The mechanics feel solid. What I don’t like and why I wish I hadn’t torn the box and could just return it: – I bought this because I thought the included USB-C cable meant I’d be able to just plug this into my MacBook Pro. That’s not the case. The cable is actually a USB-C cable on the end that plugs into the keyboard, but it is a USB-A cable on the other end. That means you can’t just plug it into a modern MacBook Pro; the MBP dropped USB-A support for only offering USB-C ports. You’ll need an adapter. – I thought being Mac specific, this keyboard would mimic the layout of the MBP. It doesn’t. It has nearly the same footprint as my 14″ Macbook Pro, but instead of having space around the keys, everything is jammed together. For example, it has two control keys – which is really more like what you’d find on a Windows computer. The second command key on the right side is small. The keys in general are crammed together, and not having space around the arrow keys and a normal sized shift key on the right side of the keyboard is very, very annoying and makes typing much harder than it should be. I’ve included pictures for anyone considering this who would like to compare the layouts of the MacBook Pro with this keyboard. (The first picture is this keyboard, the second is a 14″ MacBook Pro, and the third is this keyboard set on top of the MacBook’s keyboard.) – The light key is a completely wasted key. I’d rather have a bigger enter/return key and more space. I set the backlight and don’t touch it once it is set. I’d rather that space had been used to provide breathing space to the other keys or to give me a full sized shift key.

As an author and Bible nerd, I write constantly. And I prefer to do my writing anywhere but my desk at home. When it comes to keyboards, I’ve never had a desire for techy RGB boards designed for gamers, despite being a bit of a gamer myself. I find it odd that mainstream manufacturers sink so much energy into accommodating this niche target market that suffers greatly in comparison to writers and professionals who equally appreciate the feel of a mechanical keyboard. Anyway, the K2 scratches an itch I have had for some time. I wanted a compact Bluetooth unit with blue switches and a key layout specific to my iPad. And I wanted something with subdued colors that look great with any piece of gear I choose to pair with it. The K2 met all of these needs. The white back lighting is also a nice feature when its not in pulsating mode. While I love blue switches, the loud clack sound from the keys bottoming out on the keyboard base tends to drown out the nice click noise. This is simply the nature of these switches. So, to better emphasize the click and to accommodate my wife’s distaste for noisiness around the house, I added two o-rings to each keycap. This not only achieved my sound reduction goal, but it also trimmed down the key travel distance. My typing speed and accuracy have improved significantly as a result. I included a video with this review to demonstrate the difference in sound that you may appreciate. It’s still not quiet, but the sound has become much more enjoyable and tolerable. My wife actually enjoys hearing it now and said that my typing adds a nice flavor to the background noises that the autumn season brings. Many thanks to Keychron for such a wonderful product!

I have ordered many Keychrons keyboards. I have used the K1,K2,K4. I have been happy for most of the time. I just decided to order another K2 (April 2021). This time, the keycaps seems to be manufactured from a different origin. The texture seems to be more matte and smooth. But the biggest thing is that the screened keycaps are not perfectly aligned. The modifier keys seem to go more to the right and not centered. Wanted to review and let others know in case they are nitpicking on the details. From the picture, the command modifier key on the right is the new one. On the left is the old one.

So first off, a few disclaimers. One, I am no mechanical keyboard expert so take everything I say as experience, not expertise. Two, this is my very first mechanical keyboard purchase so I have no other mechanical keyboards I can compare this to. Three, if you know nothing about mechanical keyboards – go and read at least a couple articles about what the different aspects to them are. Especially the different types of switches. Depending on what type of sound and feel you want, knowing the switches will potentially make the difference between a happy purchase and an unhappy one. I’m glad I did the research because I ended up very happy with both the sound and the feel. Ok, all that said… on to the review. After using my last keyboard for about three years, I decided it was time to replace it. I had been hearing a lot about mechanical keyboards for a while and had been talking to others about their experience. I decided it was time to take the plunge. The challenge here is that there are A LOT of options out there. Here’s how I chose. I’m a big fan of the folks at the Wirecutter (don’t love that they sold out to NYT, but whatevs). So I read their research and testing on best options. Their pick felt way over my head, both in terms of acquisition (had to go some mechanical keyboard online shop), costs, options, and wait time. Their budget pick, the Keychron C1 caught my eye. But this was a wired KB and I wanted wireless. I also noticed that their upgrade pick was also a Keychron – so when I found this one, I thought it couldn’t be too bad. Plus it had the two main features I wanted (bluetooth and backlight). Plus it looked pretty awesome. The overall package – I have to admit for a brand I had never heard of before, the whole package – keyboard and all – was made with a considerable amount of quality. The construction feels solid and sturdy. The instructions were understandable and clear. It included extra keycaps if you wanted to use this keyboard with a windows machine. You could even change the keys in the corner to gray or orange. Your choice. But the most important question – how does it feel to type? Mind you I’m not wildly picky nor a typing snob – but I thought it was great. I love the feel of it and it has just the right amount of feedback and sound. I got the brown switches for just this reason. Again, I will stress the importance of knowing what kind of switches you want. What I like – Typing feels awesome. It looks amazing on my desk and blends well with my Mac and all my accessories. Holds a charge for a long time. Lots of fun backlight options. Easy to configure. Can use as wired or wireless. Everything is high quality. What I don’t like – It goes to sleep a little too frequently for my taste. Mind you, this is configurable and you can change the amount of idle time before sleep or turn off auto sleep altogether.I tried this, but I think I got something wrong and now it seems to go to sleep even faster. But this is truly a PEBKAC and not a problem with the keyboard itself. Who would I recommend this for – I would definitely recommend this keyboard for anyone looking for their first foray into the mechanical world. Nothing to overthink here. Just pick the type of switches you want (thank goodness there are only three available as opposed to the dozen or so that are out there) and order and you’re on your way to clickety-clackety nirvana.

This is my first mechanical keyboard, and after a week I’m already hooked! The default keycaps are classy looking, but the orange escape is a little loud and stands out too much. I’d like to get a colorful set of keycaps for it, but this layout is not standard and not many keycap sets support it. You’ll have to look for WhiteFox Vanilla or tsangan sets. Where a nice set might go for $50, to get the add-ons to support this keyboard layout will run you about twice that. Even still, I think I’m going to hang on to this keyboard for a long time.

UPDATE 2: So when i made my first review i was using it with a usb c cable however just right after i used the Bluetooth wireless feature it was very disappointing. my Computer is just 3ft away from my keyboard and the Bluetooth cant reached that far. it detects but damn the delay is insane and most of the time the key gets stuck meaning you press one button and it will type that letter forever its not the switch its just doesn’t detect the keyboard well and thats just being 3 ft away from my PC. however if you have a USB Bluetooth dongle or have a laptop that is literally in front of your keyboard then there is no issue in the signal so i end up returning it for MAC users and most of you have your PC infront of your keyboard i dont see an issue as it work well with mine. however this keyboard was meant for my PC unfortunately its 3 feet away and that doesnt even work i guess bluetooth sucks on this keyboard. This is probably the best 75% keyboard for the price i bought the base K2 model for $75 and added my own keycaps which made the keyboard a lot nicer.. the keyboard is the one with blue and yellow keycaps. as you can see on the photo i have 3 and the lower is keyboard without a keycaps is a $400 keyboard which is also 75% all i can say that i put that keyboard away and using this keychron k2. ALL I WISH ITS HOTSWAPABLE. So in short yes i would buy it again hope KEYCHRON MAKES A NEW ONE WITH HOT SWAP SWITCHES.
