I wrote a great Review on this model keyboard, and I still stick by it if this Keyboard is used connected with the USB cord connected.
This is my 2nd K4 Pro which is a replacement for my 1st K4 Pro having the same problem as the last one. The z, a, q, 1, keys will stop functioning and it’s annoying while working. These Keyboards were fully charged and work correctly when being used with the cord plugged in. But that’s unacceptable to me, it should work correctly with BT connected as well. This is discouraging to me because this Keyboard by far has the best feeling keys, and it provides everything I want for my office Keyboard. The last K4 Pro I tried to overlook the problem using the Keyboard for about a week. I even considered just keeping the keyboard connected with the USB cord and using it that way. But it would’ve been hard for me to overlook the issue knowing that it won’t work properly in BT mode, I want a fully functional keyboard. I haven’t noticed any problems with my K6 or K4 but I don’t use them for 40+ hours a week. I’m Going to bring those to work and put them to the test.

I can’t speak on the switches or keycaps that it came with, as I switched them out for a set I already had and Glorious Kailh Box Black switches. The build is nice and the flex on the board makes it so I know things are staying connected. Bluetooth also works just fine.
The lower rating comes from the “programmability”. It is not doable out of the box. You need to go to the Keychron website and download the correct .JSON file (Which they warn you could brick your keyboard somehow) and then use the VIA webapp which lets you reconfigure after finding the correct file and activating a beta feature (It’s beta at the time of me writing this 8/29/2024). Then you are greeted by 4 layers, 0 through 3. There is no mention outside of a reddit post I found about which layers do what. 0 and 1 are for Mac and 2 and 3 are for Windows/PC. After you remap things you redownload the file and it seems to have loaded onto the keyboard now. I finally reprogrammed the keys I wanted but it was a nightmare of a confusing process that involved what should have just been Keychron’s website for instructions but instead multiple Reddit posts and a few YouTube videos that also had no idea what was going on.

For the price point, this is an excellent keyboard for those of us who can’t live without a 10 key.
The keys themselves are very quiet, and can be made more so if you know some of the mod tricks like taping and adding foam to the bottom, etc, as well as some o-rings on the stabalizers and additional lube. Even if I point my mic directly at the keyboard an inch away, it doesn’t pick up the keystrokes even with the noise gate off.
BT works well as does the wired connection. I use this for travel as well and have been quite happy with it. The lighting is just there. Nothing special, and you’d have to replace the keycaps if you want the letters to be seen in low light, but it’s bright enough that this isn’t strictly necessary.
Be advised that if you are capable of 10key by touch, the zero key is single key width instead of the usual double width on must full size keyboards, and you will find yourself hitting the right arrow key with your thumb when you mean to hit the zero.

Was looking for a new keyboard and just discovered the whole upscale mechanical keyboard scene. Found Keychron keyboards and this one seemed to fit the bill. Received today. Lot’s of heft to it. Very comfortable to type with this board. Connects to BT with no problems. White LED backlight ain’t that impressive, but I’m kinda sick of RGB keyboard lighting. Time will tell, but I think this will be a nice keyboard to use for a while.

Frequently drops connections, typically because the battery discharges unexpectedly fast. To check battery status you must press Fn + B. They keyboard has no indicator that it’s about to die.
When switching between bluetooth and wired modes some of the keys such as command no longer function appropriately.
The keyboard will not charge using a standard USB-C cable from Mac and requires being plugged in to a higher power source.

When I got this in April of 2024 it worked great. After a few months the Bluetooth worked intermittently (yes, it was fully charged). I had a couple of IT experts look at this to no avail. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work plugged in any longer either. I do know other people with this keyboard who love it, but I got a lemon.

The keyboard is cool, raised high in comparison to a Mac, good sound, but the A & 1 keys don’t always work. You sometimes have to hit a different key for them to be read, sort of annoying. I saw that other complained of the issue and you have to do a reset, download software, etc. sort of a hassle after owning for less than 4 months.
