   I’ve got to say this keyboard has everything I like so far. Physical button for on off and Bluetooth. Can be used on Windows MAC or Android. You have the ability to use just about any mechanical switch you can think of in this keyboard. If you plan on replacing switches there are a few things to know. When removing the old switches use a slight wiggle back and forth method with some upward force. When pulling up try not to use your whole arm but just your wrist to keep the movement small. When adding switches place the pin connectors down in the whole. If you do this while using a website to tell if the keyboard is pressed it’s easy to know when it’s making contact. If you can get just the one side with the pins in and your seeing the switch getting triggered on your program then you can take your thumb and press the switch in the rest of the way. I can’t place enough emphasis gentle. It’s super easy to bend the pins. If your too rough you could break the pin socket on the mainboard. At that point you will probably need to RMA it.

   I’m super picky about keyboards. I just wanted to state that up front. My favorite has been das Keyboard. I’ve tried SO many others. I started programming back in the days of the IBM Model M 101 keyboards (oh so sweet). Being able to take it apart once a year and clean the switch contacts was so satisfying. Over the past decade or so, since mechanical keyboards have once again become the rage, I’ve tried a lot. Most recently, SteelSeries, Logi G Pro, Ducky, and a few others. The Logi G Pro was nice but I kept having problems with their switches and kept having to change them. The SS died after less than a year and I couldn’t get it fixed. The Duckys are great, but I could never find a basic colored one and I didn’t like the funky colors. And soooooooooooo expensive. I kept reading reviews of Keychron and some were great and some not-so-great. I went TKL a few years ago to save desk space and compared all the Keychrons. For my desktop I don’t need wireless but the K8 just seemed to match what I wanted. When it came in, I was impressed. I know it uses regular Gat switches (I went with Browns for pseudo-quiet typing). The layout and features are nice. I like having switches to turn it off if I’m not going to use it for a few days. Replaceable switches mean I hope it lasts a while. 🙂 And I love the ability to change switches if I want to. It feels decent and looks nice. It’s a little bit bulkier than others that have a flat plate look to them. The included USB-C to USB-A cable is high quality with a right-angle connector for the keyboard but is a bit short. It is a bit echoey when typing and the space bar rings a lot. It doesn’t have any “real” internal dampening so that’s why. I know I could add dampening foam. The keycaps are crud. Very slick and thin. I hated them. I wound up buying a set of cheap shine through PBT keycaps on go-keyboard.com for about $25 and it’s much better. The normal Gat switches aren’t my favorite, but they’ll do. I bought the “aluminum” frame version and just note only a rim around the keyboard is the only thing that is aluminum. The rest is super plasticy and feels a bit cheaper than others that have more aluminum / metal. But it doesn’t feel “cheap” overall. For the price, I have not found a more comfortable, professional looking, and customizable keyboard… until the K8 QMK/VIA comes out. 🙂 I already ordered the new K8 QMK/VIA after using this one for a while. It has all the best features of this K8 with some amazing upgrades. QMK/VIA support, double-shot PBT keycaps, Gat Pro switches (still replaceable), etc. Super excited for when it finally starts shipping. I’ll keep this current K8 for other uses as it is really good.

   I am so glad I have ordered this keyboard, this is the best keyboard for the money, I have bought Logitech G915 TKL, Logitech PRO X, Logitech MX Keys, and many other mechanical keyboards but finally decided to keep this K8 keyboard for my everyday work (Just coding, writing, and some gaming) The main reason I pick this keyboard for good is because of the following reasons: 1. Confident in fast typing – I have been using full keycap keyboard for many years and many time attempt to try out the low profile but for some reason I have alway feel regular keyboard are always much more confident to type on. 2. Mechanical – I have been growing up with IBM mechanical keyboard for many years and, even after 30 years now, mechanical keyboard prove to be the most satisfying keyboard for users. This keyboard gives me the mechanical that I love, and even with clicky switch, I don’t feel it is very loud like some other I have used. 3. Design – I not so picky about the way the keyboard looks, as long as it is reasonable simple looking, compact and elegant, I am not a big fan of many crazy bells and whistle designs. This keyboard gives me just the most simplicity, not so high and not so low, I can use it out of the box without raising the legs. 4. Functionally – I am both a Windows / Mac OS user, the last two years, I have been on the Mac OS more, and needed an external keyboard for my MacBook Pro 16, and I can not find any company on the market today that make a keyboard with Mac keycaps feature and function keys that works with the Mac without the need of keys reconfiguration (I know Logitech has the MX keys, but that about it). Keychron is the only company that I can find right now, this K8 keyboard gives me exactly what I need for working with my MacBook Pro 16, I have option of wireless with BT 5.1, or USB-C wired, I have RGB light version, and keycaps for both Windows and Mac, which I think is a genius move by Keychron. 5. Price and value – As I have mentioned earlier, I have tried out many type of keyboards, even many over $250 on the market, Drop Ctrl, G915 KTL, MX Keys, G PRO X, but I decided to return them all and keep the Keychron K8 because for around $100 I can get the same feel and performance of the best keyboard on the market, and it was the obvious choice for me. On top of the all the good things mentioned above, I also have a choice of swapping out key switches if I needed to, the hot swap is the ultimate options for anyone like to have a custom keyboard at much lower cost. I highly recommend this keyboard.

   This thing died like a month after the 1 year warranty ran out. I got up from my office chair on the carpet and went to sit at my desk over the hardwood… slapped the space bar on my Keychron K8 and got a nasty shock before the lights flashed and got all messed up. Keys didn’t work either so I messaged support and they told me I’m out of warranty so this thing was pretty much a $125 per year keyboard subscription.

   After taking out the first of the switches that it came with (Gateron Browns) I was pleased to see that the PCB had the 2 additional holes for the support feet on each individual keyboard switch. Not easy to find a fully prebuilt board on go-keyboard.com for around a hundred bucks with this feature. I’m not trying to clip both of the support legs off eighty some expensive switches – thankfully, Keychron knows this and made a banging product for the price!!

   I’m not a PC gamer, go I can’t evaluate this keyboard for gaming. But for typing, it’s excellent! I got the one with Gateron Brown switches, and I love them. After about a week of using this keyboard for work (normal typing for an office), I wouldn’t go back to the Mac low profile keyboard I had before. One issue that I had… some of the keys weren’t working when I first turned it on, including the fn key, so I couldn’t connect with Bluetooth. I thought I got a bad keyboard where the Bluetooth didn’t work. But I connected it via the cable, and I found that some of the other keys weren’t working. So, I pulled the keycaps and pulled out the switches of the keys that didn’t work. On each of those “broken” keys, the switch had 1 pin that was bent and wasn’t making contact with the PCB. So, I carefully bent those pins straight, pushed the switches back in, and tested them. They worked! So, everything works now, but I had to put in some effort. Sounds like Keychron needs to step up their quality control! But other than that issue, it’s been great!

    After about a week of use, the keyboard has either horrible input lag half the time (like 10 to 15 second delay) or doesn’t work at all. I tried updating the firmware and wasted a lot of time trying to fix the problem. The only way I can get wireless to work is by resetting my computer and turning Bluetooth off and on again, AND EVEN AFTER DOING THAT IT STOPS WORKING if I’m not continuously typing. The only way I can reliably use this keyboard is over a wired connection. Sorry to say but the software on this keyboard absolutely hot garbage for this price point.

    Personalmente yo hice el cambio a este teclado desde un hutsman mini de la marca razer y no estoy para nada arrepentida, quería algo custom pero se salía de presupuesto aunque después de leer y buscar me encontré con los teclados Keychron. La calidad de las teclas y la sensación al teclear son brutales, el material se nota de muy buena calidad y le da una patada a cualquier teclado que haya tenido de alta gama en cuánto a marcas comerciales “gamer”. Poder usarlo de manera wireless (la duración de la batería es muy buena) o con cable es un puntazo y sin hablar de la opción de poder ponerlo en iOS o Android (yo no uso esta opción, pero para gente que programa es muy útil). La reseña la escribo después de 3 meses usando el teclado diariamente, el principal uso que le doy es para videojuegos y las sensaciones son buenas, el único problema que he tenido es en el modo Wireless, pero que después de investigar proviene de mi sistema con el bluetooth que al no tenerlo integrado en el pc y ser vía pendrive da un poco de delay en el movimiento (sobre todo notorio en los shooters). En general estoy muy contenta y sinceramente y es de lo mejor en cuánto a teclado prediseñado, por supuesto que un teclado custom (siempre y cuando los materiales y los componentes sean buenos) es mejor, pero nada que envidiar por el momento.

    I purchased the Gateron Blue version, I like typing and having an audible clicky feedback gives me assurance that i pressed the key. I’m new to the scene of keyboard modding and I’m already enjoying what this keyboard offers. -Bluetooth -Hot Swappable (maybe thinking of trying holy pandas or glorious pandas) -RGB lighting I went from a corsair K70 rapidfire keyboard, which had cherry mx silver, to this and it is an entirely new feeling. I feel that I’m in control of what keys are being pressed, but I know thats because of the switches im using now.

    Keyboard works great, no connection issues with any of my devices using Bluetooth. cable could be longer but I’ll end up buying a coiled one any ways. Battery life is terrific, so far I’ve used it for 10+ hrs with the backlight on and swapping between devices and my computer reads it’s at 78% charge.
    The only issue I had with this board was one switch was dead when it arrived, I contacted keychron through their website and they got back to me the same day with trouble shooting steps and by the next day I was giving them shipping info for them to send me 4 new switches (I only needed one). This was by far the easiest customer service experience I’ve delt with and was actually resolved without me having to send the whole keyboard back and wait for a new one.
    Will definitely recommend to people and will be purchasing another one in the near future for my wife.

    Excellent keyboard. Bought many of these types of keyboards now. Both low profile and regular. These are possibly the best keyboard you are going to get from prebuilt keyboards unless you build your own to your own specifications. Battery is great and the egg works great. Only downside is I got UK ISO when I am more accustomed to ANCI so I kind of wish there was a way to switch the physical keys.

    Like the title says. I purchased this “new” keyboard which came with an go-keyboard.com refurbished sticker on the box, no manual even though the item description claims it should have one and obvious marks on the box and device. Aside from the the fn came doa. Without it I cannot even enable Bluetooth discovery. I am very disappointed with this purchase and I’m planning to return it. Since I do not live in the states and will be leaving soon I won’t even have time to order another one before I leave. Thanks a lot for lying in your product description and wasting my time!

    Originally I was very happy with this product but found after only 3 months my W, S, D keys are wearing out. Yes it’s cheap but the quality of the keys is sub par. The aluminum upgrade only adds aluminum rails to the sides of plastic body. The exposed bottom and internal build is plastic.

    Previously had a Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro L RGB with Cherry MX Blue switches and this blows that keyboard out of the water! I didn’t even realize this can be RGB, so that was a treat! I can switch back and forth from sleek looking to colorful and fun! The Cherry MX Red switches have a nice satisfying click and the quality is just really really nice. I switched out the key caps for something with color to match my set up, but i almost didn’t because even the original keycaps just look so good. My husband has a Keychron and I can say that I can’t see myself using anything else now either!

    The Keychron K8 is an extremely good keyboard, almost perfect. The only issues I have with it, is that there is no more options for the type of key switch. I wish there were options of Kailh and Cherry MX rather than just Gateron. The other issue is that they should have a PBT keycap option, for longer lasting keycaps. Otherwise, since it is hot-swappable and you can just change the keycaps, this keyboard is virtually perfect. It has amazing build quality, at least for the aluminum version that I have. The keycaps are very good, not too much RGB bleed through the keycaps, and a good amount of RBG options. This keyboard is also hot-swappable which makes it a very good option for beginners or enthusiasts. It also has bluetooth which makes it a compelling option for a wide variety of people. Not only that but it has support for Windows, MacOS, and for some reason Android and iOS if you’re going to be buying a super expensive keyboard for your phone, if you’re into that. This keyboard is great, I highly recommend this keyboard over the rest, the only thing is you’re going to have to live without software. As they haven’t created one but they should, it would honestly complete the experience for this keyboard.

    I’ve been adoring this thing every since I got it. First off, let me tell you what I’ve used in the past: Corsair K100 and the Leopold FC750R. These are both excellent keyboards that are at the top of many consumer ratings on mechanical keyboards. But they just don’t compare, not only is this keyboard cheaper than those keyboards, it is hot-swappable, has high quality keycaps, comes prelubed, has RGB, and has media keys (looking at you Leopold), and sounds amazing. I didn’t think I would like this keyboard as much as my Leopold, in fact I bought it intending to only use it for work, but this keyboard is so good, it has become my go-to mechanical keyboard. I’m a developer, so the board I type on matters a lot to me. I hope you make the right choice, and buy this keyboard first, instead of wasting your time with other options!
