   If you’ve never owned a mechanical keyboard – you owe it to yourself to splurge on this beast. It’s honestly pretty much the nicest piece of computer kit I’ve ever bought. Only downside (4-stars on ergonomic) is there’s no built-in way to incline it, which it could use. I get it that they didn’t include the little stupid plastic flip-down feet because it would crush them, and it would look like a fake Bugatti decal on a Prius if they did. If you really need it to tilt a bit, but a little something under the back of it, but make it solid because this thing is legit thicc. I also recommend the extra key set with some fun colors (sold separately) to give it a one-of-a-kind look that will have all your Teams meetings drooling over!

   Damn it’s heavy. Heavier than my Das Keyboard or my Ducky. Boat anchor heavy. Very nicE!
   Went with the Gateron Brown keys. I’m used to Cherry Browns or Cherry Blues so I was skeptical – but they are actually really nice. Good action and on this heavy keyboard fairly quiet. The knob is a wonderful feature and my PC recognized the knob as volume without doing anything.
   Keycaps are classy but a little boring. May get another set of keycaps eventually – but overall this is an excellent package. 100%!

   I bought my Ducky one 3 daybreak back in January of 2022 when I started to get really interested in keyboards. I wanted something with hot swappable switches and a variety of keycap options. After using that for about year the keys started to double type. I did everything from updating the firmware on the KB to replacing every individual switch after cleaning it out with compressed air. Unfortunately I concluded that it was a PCB (printed circuit board) issue, and none of it ever worked and so it’s been sitting on my shelf since October. The Keychron Q6 is a breath of fresh air. I was hesitant to spend over $150 for a KB again after my previous experience but wow am I glad I did. Almost immediately you can feel the quality in this absolute unit of a KB. It is heavy, I cannot emphasis enough with how heavy this KB is. The sound is rich and comforting using their lubed reds. I thought I’d miss an illuminating RGB experience but I’ve gotten to the point to where this subtle south-facing RGB is perfect for my needs. The customization is endless using the VIA software that it recommends. I will absolutely 100% recommend this if you want something built on a proper platform with room to grow in whatever direction you so desire.

   I have had a mechanical keyboard addiction for many years. Yet each time I purchase one, whether $$ or $$$$ I’m always left a bit disappointed. Always something missing. Switches aren’t silent enough, keyboard makes tinging sounds, feels cheap in spots, no media keys, non-swappable switches, crappy software, bad RGB, the list goes on. I decided to indulge in this Keychron Q6, and I’m in love! Is it cheap? No. Is it solid AF? Yes. I swapped out the included switches for Cherry RGB Silent Red, and it’s finally what I’ve always wanted. *Pros*: Build quality Style Easily swappable switches Volume knob is very solid USB C, removable, and on the side Via software is light and easy to use *Cons*: I don’t love bottom firing RGB (but I think I found a good setup) No dedicated media keys out of box Do yourself a favor, stop shopping and returning, or buying and regretting- Buy this board! I hope it lasts me a very long time.

   For context, I’ve used a mechanical keyboard for around 8 years. Started on a Rosewill with Cherry MX Browns then switched to a Corsair low profile board with MX Speeds. However, neither board allowed for a great deal of customization. After falling down the mechanical keyboard rabbit hole on YouTube, I decided that it was time to dip my toes into the “enthusiast” end of the pool. The sheer number of keyboard options on the market these days is staggering, but Keychron kept popping up in reviews and videos as a good blend of quality, price, and accessibility. I wanted a board that felt premium out of the box, offered easy customization, didn’t completely annihilate my wallet, and was available to purchase immediately. After two weeks of using my Keychron Q6, I can say with confidence that I definitely made the right decision. Even before typing on it, the board feels like a premium product. Its CNC-machined aluminum body has considerable heft, especially since I chose the 100% version. My wife joked that it’d probably be the first thing she’d grab to fend off a home invader. I’m not yet experienced enough to discern the difference between factory-lubed and hand-lubed switches, but the Gateron Reds feel smooth and satisfying to use straight out of the box. The screw-in stabilizers have very little rattle, though the spacebar hits with a much more pronounced “plunk” than the other keys (which is satisfying to me but may not be for everyone). The hot-swappable PCB makes changing your configuration a breeze. The keycap and switch pulling tools included in-box allowed me to easily swap my keycaps to the fancy gradient ones seen in the pictures and experiment with a few other types of switches. Compatibility with QMK/VIA is a feature I didn’t even realize I wanted but am absolutely happy to have. It’s worth mentioning that I did have to flash the newest version of the firmware (1.05) to make the board fully compatible with VIA, as the 1.02 firmware that came on the board wouldn’t allow me to use VIA to customize the knob. But the flashing process was very straightforward, and using VIA to change my key layout and to program macros is a breeze. Keychron also has an active Reddit community, so I was easily able to find threads addressing any questions I had during the process. If you’re looking to get into mechanical keyboards as a hobby, then as a fellow novice I can’t recommend the Keychron Q series boards highly enough. The keyboard is fantastic straight out of the box while allowing you to easily customize to your heart’s/wallet’s content.
