- 87 Keys Mechanical Keyboard: The V3 has a classic TKL (80%) layout with QMK/VIA support, which can offer you endless possibilities of customization and meet your needs in different situations. With double-shot PBT keycaps, an acoustic silicone pad, screw-in stabs, and pre-lubed switches, etc., which provides endless possibilities and a comfortable typing experience.
- Fully Customizable From the Inside Out: To build a fully customizable keyboard, we designed every component easily assembled, including keycaps, switches, gaskets, plates, knob and case foam if you want. With QMK and VIA support, you can easily program and remap each key on the keyboard. The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects, and more.
- Hot-swappable Support: With the pre-lubed mechanical tactile brown switch provides unrivaled tactile responsiveness with up to 50 million keystroke lifespan. You can also hot-swap the V3 with almost all of the 3pin and 5pin MX mechanical switches on the market (including Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Panda, etc.) without soldering required. The PCB-mounted screw-in stabilizer for “big keys” such as space bar, shift, enter, and delete are designed for less wobbliness and smooth performance.
- Compatible with both macOS & Windows Systems: Built with the Mac users’ experience in mind while still retaining compatibility for Windows devices, the Keychron V3 comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems. You can now save two different layouts on the keyboard.
- Double-shot PBT Keycaps & South-facing Backlight: The V3 comes with our unique OSA profile and double-shot PBT keycaps that aim to provide a more comfortable and subtle fingertip feel with excellent oil resistance for long-term use. The south-facing RGB is designed to better illuminate the keyboard backlight from the typist’s angle and free from interference when the user installs Cherry-profile alternative keycaps on the V3.

Coming from a red dragon keyboard, this is a major upgrade and I felt ridiculous for using a cheaper keyboard for so long. The materials and construction feel solid and have lasted me well. I love the metal volume knob and the translucent frame is a nice touch. Most of all I like the shape and texture of the keys. For some reason I find myself making way less typing mistakes with this keyboard. It’s extremely comfortable and seems to suit my fingers better. I also have really enjoyed it for gaming.
Only thing I hate is the south facing lights- there’s absolutely no reason for them other than looking nice for photos, so not very practical or necessary. It’s a strange design choice when everything else about this keyboard is so practical… The lights don’t illuminate your keys at all and if you’re sitting at a certain angle, while I wouldn’t say they’re blinding, I have found them pretty annoying in my peripheral vision. That’s seriously the only thing I don’t like about this keyboard though. The rest is flawless.

This is a great keyboard for someone who doesn’t need a full ten-key setup, but still wants all the function keys and such. I wasn’t sure I needed the knob, but I’m glad I have it now — I find it to be really helpful for quick volume control. I’m a complete newbie at custom mechanical keyboards, but I was able to take this one apart, add switch pads, reassemble it (stabs were kind of a pain in the butt to get aligned properly, but I assume that’s common), swap out the switches for kailh white box clicky ones, and pop on new keycaps. The keyboard itself is super solid – it feels like it would survive a nuclear bomb. I am really, really happy with this purchase. 🙂

Since I have transitioned to using mechanical keyboard while editing, I have not looked back and it’s a killer with the RGB lighting and it has a soft feel when you use it, the volume button is A+ for me, Best Value for money.

So like i bought the keyboard but the thing is is that the keycaps are just made horrible and i had crappy unknown brand keycaps on my old keyboard but these broke after around 3 or 4 weeks the keyboard is made fine but the keycaps are just bad

Great keyboard. Solid, with nice tactile response. Colored lights are amusing and sure to be a hit with the grandkids. As an older person who grew up with IBM typewriter and computer keyboards, this is like the good old days with some added cuteness. 🙂

I already had a V3, but wanted the one with the volume knob. It’s a great keyboard, especially for modding. It has a really good sound out of the box, but I still made it even better with a packing tape mod on the underside of the PCB which really made it thocky. The weight of the board in its stock configuration is heavy, which I really like. Also, having the foam padding between the switch plate and the PCB (which is stock on this keyboard) makes a huge difference over another Keychron I have that didn’t come with it (although I added it later). One caveat to switching to this keyboard from the non-knob version was that they make the function key row “tighter” in terms of spacing in order to fit the knob at the end of the row. I think they reduced the gaps between each of the sets of 4 function keys. So it took a bit of time for my muscle memory to adjust. I kept hitting F6 instead of F5, and F4 instead of F3.
It would have been nice if they could have found a way to place the knob in a different location that didn’t affect the standard keyboard layout, but it works. I’d highly recommend a Keychron V3 either with or without the knob. They are awesome keyboards, especially for the price.

Don’t hesitate. This one is the end game. No more cheap TKL to mod. This keyboard is thocky out of the box. Maybe just a tape mod down the road and/or trying the panda switch. Compare to tecware phantom 87 (i modded the crap out of and thought it is very thocky) its night and day. I have two of those and thought they are the bomb. But the v3 is another level. It justifies the price tag.
Keycaps are showing wear after a few weeks but thats expected.

I didn’t think I could get used to a 75%, but I’ve adapted quite well. For the price this is a great keyboard, with a great sound and feel. I’ll likely change the key caps at some point just for aesthetic reasons

I’ve had like 20 or so mechanical/topre keyboards over the years of varying quality and age, even vintage
I eventually grew tired of the hobby because soldered switches eventually fail and I couldn’t mess around with soldering new ones
So I settled with the keychron. Haven’t had to replace any switches yet and they come prelubed and well stabilized
I like the color scheme of the keycaps which are high quality pbt
Very sturdy plastic case and good cherry clone switches
The click is less annoying and deeper than cherry blues and the keyfeel is about on par
