   I recently had to replace my Logitech G510 that I’ve used for 5 years as it finally bit the dust. I’ve tested many a keyboard (which my go-keyboard.com order history will attest too) and I always come back to Logitech. This is the greatest keyboard ever! I’m a web designer, manager and writer for Our Peaceful Planet, I manage two other sites and spend most of my day on my computer doing that and other various things such a upkeeping a family digital scrapbook etc. I’m also a World of Warcraft gamer. I’d used this keyboard even if I didn’t game. Having the FULL music controls at my fingertips is something I now can’t do without. The F-keys are spaced in groups which is SO much nicer than many keyboards that just lay them out in one long row. And the extra bank of programmable keys is just awesome! Logitech’s quality is the best I’ve found which is why I stick with it. I’m a regular FB poster too and my followers received updates on my keyboard choices as shown when my last one died. (Assuming they let the pics through) UPDATE I’ve only found one small issue that I don’t care for after using this for a few weeks. They changed the typeface on the keys and the one they chose is not the best in my opinion. Some symbols are a bit difficult to read. If you type blind then it won’t bother you. Certainly not a reason to not purchase this wonderful keyboard. I added a photo.

   This is one great keyboard. This is my first backlit keyboard and I am loving every second of it.
   As another reviewer has mentioned, the choice of colours is 16 million and you can choose to have a different colour for each of the 3 modes. These require of the use of Logitech software though.
   Also, there is an LCD Panel which is slightly customizable (with a set of preset apps).
   It takes a while to adjust to the keyboard, as there are extra keys on the left and the main keyboard only starts after that.
   So, as per habit you kinda move to the top right to press the Esc key, but it isn’t there.

   The only problem I had was the less-sensitive spacebar. It only responds to a tap in the middle. Most of the taps on the side usually are ignored. That is the only con I have for the keyboard so far.

   I’ve been using this keyboard for about a week or so, I’m already regretting my decision. Here is a list of the problems so far: 1) Unreliable space bar. Sometimes I’d get 2 spaces, sometimes none. 2) Gaming software driver will not load all the time. I have to clear out the application data profiles from time to time to make it load. 3) It’s only been 2 weeks, the “D” key on my keyboard is already getting stuck. If i don’t put pressure directly in the center of the D key, there will be more resistance and the key will make a funny noise when i push it. 4) The keys sometimes will repeat itself when im playing FPS.. this usually results in strafing too much. I gave this an extra star because it’s at least functional.

   This is the first “gamer” focused keyboard I’ve ever purchased and I can’t say I’m really all that happy with it. If I had bought this locally I would have returned it already, the hassle of shipping it back is the only reason I haven’t. I’m sure these programmable G-keys can do a lot but their usage is far from intuitive and their inclusion on the side really messes with my ability to use the keyboard normally. I am constantly reaching for the G-keys when attempting to use hotkeys that I have grown accustomed to and never have to even glance at other keyboards to find, especially when copy/pasting or using alt-tab. When I purchased this one it was a coincidence of timing, my old keyboard had a few keys die right when I got an email mentioning this item was on sale. I got it mainly for the backlit keys and the built in LCD, both of which have been colossal disappointments. I also liked that it has a volume wheel instead of just plus and minus buttons, though it seems just a hair too sensitive and can’t be adjusted. The programmable macro keys I considered a bonus, but I knew from the start I would have little use for them if any. I have programmed one to launch the windows calculator as my old keyboard had a button specifically for that and I used it a lot. After actually getting the keyboard the flaws jumped out at me immediately. My first disappointment was the little feet underneath for those of us that like the keyboard to be propped up at an angle rather than lying flat. They are so small the difference isn’t even noticable, the slight incline they create is imperceptible. The backlight seemed very dim at first and uneven on a lot of keys, to the point of making it harder to see what is written on the key with the light on than it is with it off. My assumption that the software (not included, I had to download it) would let me adjust this to be better proved to be false. With the software you can adjust the brightness of the light but not very much and it is always quite dim, which is made worse by keys with obvious bands of bright and dark making the symbols hard to read. I am including a photo of the worst looking keys (though other keys do share the same problem) which are the WASD ones that are also a different color key than the rest. The photo really minimizes how bad the banding is on these keys, it looks much worse and less readable in person. Also the same brightness control affects the LCD screen and the keys, turning it up high enough to be noticeable on the keys makes the LCD super bright and washed out. The overly bright LCD is less of a hassle than it would be if it was at all useful, I have not yet found anything good about having it there however. The only game I have currently installed that supports it is Borderlands, which I haven’t actually played in ages and when I did try it just to see the LCD in action I was unimpressed with the information it displays. I’m not surprised at all that nothing newer supports it. There are very few apps that do anything at all with the LCD and none that I have found more useful than the included date and time display. The built in jacks for headset and mic with a usb sound device that activates when something is plugged in were a surprising feature that I didn’t notice before ordering it, but it turned out to not be so great either. I currently use a USB dongle for my headset and when I connect it I can hear the little sound windows makes when connecting a device and then a second later the headset becomes the default audio device. If I unplug from that and instead connect the headset to this keyboard windows plays that same “device detected” sound as soon as I plug it in, but it does so 3 or four times rapidly. It works fine and all, just a minor annoyance that it sounds like I just plugged in 3 or 4 devices at once.

   Excellent Keyboard, very comfortable to type and 18 programmable G keys is just superb.
   Highly recommended.
   You might have issues with the spacebar it mostly doesn’t register the click if you press the spacebar on the right most corner.
   But I have a habit of pressing the spacebar in its center so no issues for me but be warned.
   Otherwise it’s an excellent keyboard, 16 million colors to choose from for the backlight and comes with applets for the Game Panel to view the CPU/RAM usage, Stopwatch, Clock, RSS news reader and many more once you install the Logitech Gaming Software from the site.

   The keyboard is good, but I wouldn’t recommend it for $80. If you are going to spend that much you should get a mechanical keyboard. The only other problem is that the backlight might as well not be there because it’s so dim. It also makes it harder to see the characters on the keys with it on rather than having it off. I would say this keyboard is worth about $60, not $80.

    This was easily the best keyboard I ever owned. It lasted roughly 10 years before the keys started sticking and wouldn’t respond properly. It saddens me deeply that Logitech doesn’t make this keyboard or any moderm equivalent. The LCD screen combined with the sound adjuster, windows key lock mechanism, and illimuination were all simply fantastic. I truly don’t understand why they stopped manufacturing these keyboards.

    backlight lol not its so dull i cant see it in the dark and even when you can colors are crap and vary faded white only upshot is the screen on it but it is low rez and i wish it were more customizable
