   Selected membrane standard keyboard and the item shown in go-keyboard.com’s ad as pictured is not what I received. The go-keyboard.com ad shows the letters on the keys as white on black but when I received the keyboard, the letters are black on black so you can’t even see the letters on the keys! Avoid this keyboard like the plague if you’re not familiar with the positioning of keys layouts. You’re going to have a bad time. Buy something else. +++++ UPDATE ++++ Update to my original review from December 2016. A few weeks after I posted this review. The keys began to stick without physically sticking. For instance, I would press the L key once and while the key didn’t physically stay pushed down, the keyboard wouldn’t stop typing the Ls and I had a whole line of Ls across my document until I smacked the keyboard. These keyboards are POORLY manufactured and this is brand new straight out the box. I wish I could give this ZERO stars. You’ve been warned!

   –Review of Razer Deathstalker expert gaming keyboard– This is a pretty neat keyboard. The keys are so smooth. I am coming from a Logitech MK320 so I am getting used to the tactile feel of the chiclet keyboard. Everything about the keyboard feels solid and with a good build. While typing the keyboard sticks to my desk so it doesn’t move at all (neither did any of my keyboards not that I think of it). Keystrokes noise is a bit louder but fades quick with each stroke. I haven’t used the software that came with but windows 10 x64 pro (ver 1607) did download and ask to install once I plugged in the USB connector. Speaking of USB, the cable is plenty long and a good thickness. I love the palm wrest. It makes typing very comfortable when compared to the Logitech MK320. The green light is perfect and not overly bright. I can find the key I want while playing BF4 in the dark. I don’t have any humming noise like other have mentioned. My only complaint is I wish it came with a blue led light as my computer has a blue led fan. I guess I can change out my fan to green to match. FYI: Purchased from local retail store that starts with a W. They had 2 boxes. One that says windows 7 compatible and one that says windows 8 compatible. I went with the newer box that said windows 8 certified. I hope the coating on the keys doesn’t wear. I know this is a membrane keyboard but I don’t like mechanical.

   Pros – 10 key rollover – space bar registers even at the farthest edge – all keys backlit – chiclet keys – textured wrist rest – rubber feet Cons – well… it cost me money? Seriously this is the best non-mechanical keyboard you can get. I really liked the “chiclet keys on a desktop” thing that this keyboard does. The keys are low to the board so it’s (technically) a “faster” keyboard. 10 key rollover… I’ve owned 4-5 Razer keyboards in the past, and so far, this is my favorite one. The best way to test rollover on your keyboard is to hold down both shift keys, caps lock, and scroll lock, and type “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” (or any sentence, really) and this keyboard can do this perfectly. You will never have problems with NKRO unless you play with your toes as well.

   Gaming is my main source of entertainment. So good keyboard is essential for me. Plus I don’t want to spend too much on it. And here comes Razer Deathstalker. I bought this (backlit) keyboard more than a year ago and I love every minute with it. Let’s get to the point. First is looks and build. Keyboard looks just badass. With its aggressive but still subtle design it will look great on any desk. Plus nice green backlight doesn’t hurt eyes and doesn’t distract either. Keyboard has non detachable wrist rest, which like entire keyboard is made out of plastic. Wrist is glossy but because of its texture it is not a fingerprint magnet. Overall I think keyboard looks and feels great. 5/5 However, is it usable? YES!!! I game all the time with it and it feels great. Keys are responsive and fast ( and surprisingly quiet), so gaming is just amazing on this. 5/5 How about added functionality? Keyboard has Fn key which unlocks additional options for keys, which makes this keyboard great for even non gamers. Plus it has Macro recording functionality. 5/5 Keyboard is fully compatible with Razer software, so you cans use full extent of Razer software capabilities. Overall, am I happy with my purchase? Yes. It is probably one of the best non mechanical keyboards of all time and it feels that way. If you want a great upgrade from generic keyboard which won’t break your bank, this is the best option. 5/5

    Gaming wise it’s alright 3.5/5 but its way to big to be a permanent option, however it is very sturdy so sturdiness is a 5/5, however that doesn’t mean its waterproof and ita fairly eazy ti clean, brightness is a 2/5 its really up to whoever buys it choice but for me it needs to be a lot more brighter rgb wise, overall its a decent keyboard but a bit overpriced at 79$ at that point buy the huntsmen mini or the black widow but overall its a 3.5/5 not a bad keyboard but a bit big to be used for gaming thats if you have small hands like me

    So, the pictures of the keyboard are a bit misleading. First off, realize that this keyboard is NOT backlit, and there is NO colorization on the keys. It’s black on black on black. The keyboard itself feels fine and works great, but unless you’re Uber hardcore about not needing to see the keys, then this is definitely not the keyboard for you. I installed some extra lighting under some shelves I have over my desk, and they helped, but it’s still hard to see any of the keys.

    I had an older Mechanical Anasi Keyboard. The membrane keys are taking some getting use to. The keyboard itself is really solid, the lifter pegs, are solid. I feel I can rest my wrists on the keyboard without breaking the wrist rest. All an all worth the price point.

    First off let me say I have NEVER owned any Razer products until now. I purchased this keyboard to add a little bit of color to my setup. They keys are great for a person that doesn’t need a mechanical keyboard. I love the feel of a mechanical keyboard, but I hate the sound! If you are like me, then this keyboard is for you! Packaging- A+. The keyboard came packaged and protected very well. Ease of use-A+. Setting up this keyboard was as easy as ABC, 123. The Software is user friendly. Keys-A+. Typing on this keyboard is amazing. I type 60-80 words per minute and every key registers without skipping a beat. Chroma-A+++. I love the customization that this keyboard offers. A bazillion colors is exactly what the Dr. Ordered! Overall-A+++++

    Very good quality keyboard. I’m one of the few at the office who uses “gaming-grade” equipment, mainly for the macros. This Razer keyboard works very nicely along with my workhorse Logitech G700. It’s nice to be able to fire up the Steam account and switch effortlessly to game mode whenever time permits, without worrying about whether or not my stuff can take a beating.

    I was excited to learn about the Razer Deathstalker, and followed its release carefully. It’s not a mechanical keyboard, and honestly that doesn’t bother me in the least bit. I also have a Logitech G710+ (which uses Cherry MX brown switches) and I still prefer the membrane Deathstalker for day-to-day use. I’ve spilled coffee on it, dropped it once or twice, and it’s still never had an issue with anything. The keys are low-profile and come with a semi-gloss black finish. They’re all laser engraved so they’ll never rub off. as I said it’s not mechanical, and no, that doesn’t mean it’s crap. The DeathStalker is probably one of the best membrane keyboards you can get when it comes to responsiveness and a nice smooth feel. Without going into too much detail, I’ve compared the DeathStalker to keyboards with mechanical switches by Kailh and Cherry MX, and in most cases I preferred the DeathStalker or didn’t notice a difference aside from noise. The DS comes with a few integrated functions that have basically become standards on keyboards like dual-function F1-12 keys, a dedicated gaming mode, and the ability to program macros. But, to take advantage of these features you have to install Razer Synapse. However, after returning to my old keyboard, I noticed how much of an advantage the Deathstalker had given me in dungeons, in raids, in PvP, and pretty much every aspect of gameplay.

    I was expecting that spending ~10k on a keyboard means I am investing for at least next 3-4 years. However, I found the keys getting jammed in normal usage within 3 days. The replacement too was not up to the mark. Infact, my existing budget keyboard Logitech MK520 works better that this expensive piece. Thankfully, those were the days when go-keyboard.com did not have the stubborn replacement only policy and I could claim a refund. Anyone planning to buy this should be absolutely sure as you don’t get refunds these days. It’s replacement only.

    This rating is for the “Standard” keyboard – The one without any backlight. Pros: It is sturdy and I am enjoying typing on this with time.It needs some practice but after that, its awesome. If you are one of those people who can type without seeing the keyboard, you can ignore the cons below. Cons: 1. The print on the keys is in very light grey. It is very difficult to see in normal light and impossible to see in dim light. Even if you manage to see the print, the font they used is some weird techno font in which the @, &, # etc are shaped weirdly. You won’t be able to differentiate unless you focus closely. But as I said above, if you can type without seeing keyboard, you don’t need to worry. 2. Left shift and left control don’t work sometimes. You need to press 2-3 times just to be sure when you use Shift+something or Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. Edit: I contacted go-keyboard.com Customer Care and they sent a replacement keyboard whose left shift and control are working fine. 5 stars for go-keyboard.coms Customer care. These 2 cons make all the difference and I feel that go-keyboard.com should list these products separately. The ones with backlight are bound to get good reviews while the design of this is not so great.

    This review applies to the “Essential” version of this keyboard. The photos misrepresent the keyboard. I think what happened is that Razer decided to make a cheaper version of this keyboard but the photos were never updated. The keys are almost completely illegible. The letters are not white and don’t have the white background as the photos show. I have to actually pick up the keyboard and hold it in the right light to be able to read them. Also, the wrist rest is made of exactly the same material as the rest of the keyboard and does not have the pattern shown in the photo. The keyboard that I got is simply not the one that is shown. I included a photo of the keyboard that I got. The keys are even less legible than what that photo shows. To give you an idea, compare the Razer logo on the wrist rest here to the one that’s in the picture. The difference in the keys is about the same. Bottom line, I returned mine after using it for just one day. It’s my first go-keyboard.com return and I’ve been a frequent Prime customer for about 5 years.
