   For a price like this you would assume it is a premium product. The keys have good response but otherwise feel like they were made by Mega Bloks. The screen was laggy; it wouldn’t open some apps including youTube and as for that the amount of apps was VERY limited (must use the terrible Razer browser app and Facebook was almost unusable)I’m returning this and trying out the Logitech G910 Orion Spark instead.

   At first I was skeptical and overwhelmed with all the options on it. But once I programmed the macro keys and checked out the apps, I was really glad I made the purchase. A lot of reviews I read complain. About the track pad, it’s not as responsive as you want it to be, but you just have to not be aggressive with it. Other than that, the Facebook app is kind of lame. The keyboard over all does what it promises as far as gaming goes. I bought it to use for 3D animation and programed the hotkeys to macro. I even have a profile for every 3D program I use. And if I want to keep track of the cpu, ram ans net use, all I have to do is press a button instead of opening the task manager. I think the buy is worth it if you take the time to learn about how it works. If you buy the Naga with it, you have even more programmable options.

   Keyboard is lovely, but quite useless with Windows 8 as Razer hasn’t updated the drivers and its Synapse 2.0 software to work. The keyboard is basically unusable because the Synapse software will load and constantly say “Please connect a Razer Synapse 2.0 enabled device”. Support on Razer’s site is practically non-existent. I couldn’t easily find contact info to email support, and only found through a web search on forums that folks have been having issues with this keyboard on Win8 since it hit RTM a couple months ago. Device doesn’t work and poor support = Returning to go-keyboard.com.

   The keyboard itself is good. The Switchblade component/module is unresponsive and buggy a lot of the time and with little to no help online and with Razer support.

   I did not have high expectations before buying the Deathstalker Ultimate. To be totally honest, it was its great looks and cool LCD screen which first attracted me, not its anti-ghosting, 1,000hz polling rate & 10 key blah blah techno specs, much less the fact that its a membrane/dome keyboard rather than a mechanical one. Slim low-profiles key caps complements the keyboard’s cool sleek design but the actual feel is a little ‘off’, at least for me. Prior to getting this keyboard, I had never used a mechanical one before (well until now as I’m actually using a Blackwidow Ultimate to type this review), my previous keyboards were all bog-standard membrane/rubber dome type. Although Im used to chicklet keys when using laptops be it at work or at home, the feel of the Deathstalker’s keys are different from them. It’s a “thud” rather than a “clack” sound/feel when you type – I would have preferred it to be a little “cushiony” rather than a firm but dull “knock-on-wood” kind of feel when typing. The lack of a pleasant feel when the keys are depressed can be a little off-putting, even when compared to standard “office keyboards”. The key caps just doesn’t inspire confidence, even when compared to cheap “office” keyboards. I would even suggest that Razer creates a firmware update that gives users the option of hearing a electronic click or beep when depressing the keys, much like what mobile phones offer on top of a vibrating feedback if the user chose to endable this option. The LCD screen is great for watching the occasional Youtube video or your own videos saved on your computer. Unfortunately, there is very noticible framerate stutter when watching online videos, whereas watching your own videos saved on your harddisk is smooth & natural. The 10 dynamic LED keys are useful for creating your own customised button icons and much more useful if game developers start creating their own set of game buttons but this is sadly not the case, Razer don’t seem to be getting much support from game developers, or its just moving along much too slowly. But the creative options are there if you want to customise yr own gaming buttons. All said, this keyboard just looks darn cool, and its a case of more style than substance but its not as bad as some put it out to be. Irony of ironies I actually find myself typing faster on the Deathstalker vs the mechanical-keyed Blackwidow! I’ve always preferred keyboards with wrist-rests and the one that comes on the Deathstalker is welcomed. Although its not as wide as my previous Tarantula’s it serves its purpose well, the only gripe is the textured rubber surface which attracts dust like a magnet and is a real pain to clean (I found a great solution – a lint-removal sticky-tape roller (used on clothes after ironing) picks up all the dust mighty fine! If you lower your expectations and get this keyboard for its great looks and cool LCD screen & customisable LED dynamic keys, you won’t be disappointed. But if you are expecting a high-end keyboard with Cherry MX mechanical keys and a metal plate below the keys, then its a wrong purchase for you. Im using the Deathstalker as my main home-use keyboard, but I also have a Blackwidow when I have heavy typing to do. They’re both connected to my PC permanently so I guess its a case of having the best of both worlds. But even if i have to settle for just one keyboard, I would still get the Deathstalker because it just looks too darn cool. Call me shallow but even my PC has colored LED case fans all over and I’ve always believe that one’s gear should look as good as it performs.

   La tastiera di per se sarebbe anche comoda, ma presenta alcuni difetti, effettivi o soggettivi, abbastanza evidenti.
   Se al layout americano ci si puo’ (ri)abituare, non si puo’ non trovare scomoda l’assenza di un tasto di spegnimento.
   Soprattutto perche’ se vi capita di premere un qualsiasi tasto dopo lo spegnimento del pc dovrete riavviare il computer ed ordinarne lo spegnimento perche’ la tastiera si disattivi nuovamente.
   Il numero di software aggiuntivi e’ abbastanza carente (per intenderci, non c’e’ neanche nulla per World of Warcraft).
   Per concludere, i tasti multimediali, spostando il punto di vista…. si annebbiano e storpiano come un pessimo 3D.
   L’avrei restituita, ma sebbene molto sotto le aspettative non mi sembrava non corrispondente a quanto pubblicizzato.

   This keyboard has a lot of potential, but the features for which I got it are unstable (e.g. the Switchblade UI replacing the numpad).

   Main issues I’ve faced:
   – Switchblade UI Apps not loading, or unresponsive
   – Keyboard only working in the original USB ports it was first installed.
   – Out of the box, a plastic film needs to be installed on the touchscreen. Some dust particles were on the screen when I did so, and now I have pockets of air stuck between the screen and the film, which cannot be removed easily after being applied. Make sure you are in a clean environment, and apply it asap when unboxing.

   Customer service from Razer seems dedicated to user satisfaction, so if you have time to spend, you could make this baby work. It’s just not very plug-and-play friendly.
