   Just got this keyboard today, so I haven’t had the chance to play around with it too much, but the initial reaction to the keyboard was positive. The keys have a nice, rubber finish to them and a great key response. One of the reoccurring complaints about this board is the brightness of the keys (or lack thereof). I feel the keys are just the right brightness. They aren’t overpowering in a dark room, which is good for gaming. They don’t overpower the screen via peripheral vision. I have posted a few pictures showing the brightness compared to the headset and mouse (so if you have those, you can get a general idea). USB port and headset/mic ports are conveniently located on the back-right side, so I just put the mouse into that. I do wish that you could at least have one more level of brightness, that option would really make this keyboard stand out among its back-lit rivals. In my opinion however, if you are looking for a back-lit programmable keyboard, that has the feel of a slim/laptop like keyboard, and one that is affordable, this is for you.

   I bought this keyboard in april, 2011 and its still working perfectly (and still looks brand new). I’m not going to say that this keyboard is perfect, nor will I say that its a PoS. What I will say is that this is a great keyboard for gaming, IF you get a good board. Technically speaking this isn’t my first Lycosa, the first one was bought a few days prior to the purchase on go-keyboard.com. I had bought it at a local best buy, and then later that day I saw that it was cheaper on go-keyboard.com. I decided to buy it here and return the first one to Best Buy. Now, that first one worked perfectly fine. Either way, i’ve owned this Lycosa for over 8 months now, and I don’t really count the BB purchase as my first one as I only returned it due to money. Anyways, I had heard of all the issues people had with the Lycosa, but for all the bad talk there was always some rays of hope in there. I decided to take the plunge, and honestly its been worth it. I really like this keyboard. the flat, laptop styled keys that are rubberized, the slim profile, the USB port (comes in handy for flash drives), headphone and microphone ports on the top (don’t use these often though), the backlighting (i heard it was very dim but mine is really bright and matches my PC’s LEDs and Mamba). You can essentially make any key a macro, but I don’t really make use of this. the touchpad on the top right is nice, but personally i’d rather have physical buttons for that. I always leave the backlighting on full. I don’t find the WASD lighting practical at all as your fingers cover them anyways , and off makes the keys impossible to see unless you look closely. The rubberized finish has yet to come off like many people say it does. now not everything has been good. I’ve had my own fair share of issues. The repeating key issue that many people complain about has shown up, but it fixed itself somehow. Also the first month of use, I had issues with the USB port. It would only work in USB 1.1, not 2.0 but I think this was a driver issue, as updating the drivers and Lycosa software fixed it. The keys may be rubberized, but the rest of the keyboard, minus the wrist rest, is made of a shiny plastic which tracks fingerprints and dust like no other. the wrist rest has a matte finish, and is detachable via screws on the bottom of the board. Other than those few minor gripes, which most have fixed itself, this keyboard is great. Is it worth $80? well I only paid $49 for it, and honestly I think its only worth $49. yea the keys feel nice as they’re rubberized, and the backlighting is fine, but it feels like razer just slapped the USB, headphone, and mic ports on it, gave it a nice styling, and slapped the words “Gaming Keyboard” onto the box to raise the price by alot. do I recommend this keyboard for $80? no. $40-$50? sure, if you want to take the plunge into unknown territory. The quality control on this product seems to be hard to read. I took the dive and ended up getting a great keyboard that has given me little issue over the 8+ months of use. I might have been one of the lucky ones (bold words, considering how UNlucky I usually am). If you take the chance and end up getting a good one, I have no doubts you’ll like this keyboard as much as me. Just know that there is a risk/reward thing going on with this board. 4/5 for me.

   There’s people commenting “don’t believe these 5 star reviews this is junk blah blah blah.” Overall my experience with the Lycosa has been relatively good. There is a common documented “bug” where a key will randomly seem to be “stuck” and the only way to fix it is to unplug and replug in the keyboard, but it happens so rare it’s not a bother. I got this keyboard for Christmas in 2010 or 2011? One of those two years and that’s the only issue I’ve had, and again, it’s so rare it’s not a bother. Almost all my letters are gone after all these years (I’m a gamer), but function is still amazing. A few of my friends got together and got me the Razer Firefly Chroma and the Deathstalker Chroma after I went and got the Deathadder Chroma when my other mouse started sticking, so my Lycosa will be retired, but I will be keeping it as a backup due to the fact it’s been very reliable to me. Uploaded photo to show I own the keyboard, and that it has been very lovingly used over the past 5ish years.

   its a goodkeyboard its fast and you can see the keys when lit just fine weather at night or in the day. the midea control is nice to have and works great, i have had no problems whit it and am glad i got it.

   I get mine for about 5 years. Yes, it’s quite sturdy and doesn’t look that bad, but that’s the only “pros” here. Cons -Keys fading after the second year From the beginning : -Random glitch with media player poping (win 7 and win 10) -Random crashes of keyboard where it is stopping to work for no apparent reasons with need to unplug it -If you hit keys with a certain angle they are going to get stuck or really hard to press ( I would say about 80-90g of force ) Do not buy this, I don’t even know why I’m stuck with this piece of garbage after 5 years. Let’s just hope it won’t do the same with my marriage …

   This keyboard is beautiful to behold. The backlighting is just jaw dropping. It even looks impressive in broad daylight. At night it looks like something from a high budget sci-fi movie. Their is a practical benefit to the cool blue lights though. The readability of the keys is GREATLY enhanced. Typing in a pitch black room is no problem at all. The size of the letter on each key is slightly larger than a standard keyboard without taking up the whole key. It’s just right. You can tell they put a lot of thought into designing this thing. The layout of the keys is standard so you don’t have to retrain yourself to something exotic. The keystroke is a bit shorter than a standard keyboard, as others have said it’s somewhere between a standard keyboard and a laptop keyboard. It’s much easier to type on than a laptop keyboard though. It took me about half an hour to get used to, and then I was typing at full speed with no problem. The glazed finish does feel slightly different but it’s no big deal. I wouldn’t hesitate to write a paper or even a book with this keyboard. The backlighting and single USB extension port on the back of the keyboard worked immediately without even installing the drivers. I use the USB extension for the wireless dongle for my mouse and it’s perfect for that. Don’t worry about the lights burning out. They’re LEDs, so yeah they’ll eventually burn out, after about 100,000 hours. Over a decade if you have it on 24/7. I found only a few minor issues. The one significant drawback is the smudges. You will absolutely get smudges everywhere no matter how clean your hands are. A little cloth is included to polish off the smudges, but I don’t want to spend 5 minutes cleaning off my keyboard every time I touch it. Also, the volume control on the top right isn’t the best. Although the “touch panel” is responsive and attractive, the volume + and – “buttons” are pretty small. meaning you have to focus your attention deliberately to change the volume level. Finally let me say that the pictures I’ve seen around the internet don’t do this keyboard justice at all. You really have to see it in person to appreciate how impressive it is. I’m very happy with my purchase.
