I was looking for a compact wireless keyboard to replace the current one on my HTPC in my living room because my wife spilled some soda in the last one. I lost 2 of those same keyboards in this same fashion and I was looking for something a little more robust and this thing is working great on the Bluetooth 4.0 and I love it. I am not sure how waterproof it is, but it is a great keyboard and does not miss a beat. I am setup with a power source to charge overnight when we are not using it so that battery should never be a problem. This board is insanely well priced. What you get for 45$ is so great that I would advise this over most 70-120$ boards for anyone but the absolute enthusiast. Its the perfect board for kids, traveling, a back up, an board for the office(with the lights off) or for the gamer on a budget. budget king!

Returned it. The MFG date code was 09/2020, so this appears to be the latest version. The fonts on the keys are more traditional than previous versions I’ve seen on other reviews. The setup instructions were terrible. I was able to pair the rk987 wit two devices over bt, but it was confusing: There is a mode switch to turn on bt. There is a mode switch to turn on “gamer mode” (as far as I can tell, this mode means (allow 3 macros to be programmed and used…) In normal mode, no macros. There is a mode switch between three bt devices. There is a mode switch to change back lighting patterns. There is no apparent way to switch between the f# keys being f#keys and their alternate, media keys. 9 I would have liked to be able to make the default setting to be media keys, with fn+f# being f# functions. I also would like to be able to remap specific keys on the keyboard. Not available. Physically, the rk987 feels very solid and massive. It’s stable on a desk with or without the back legs extended. With brown switches, I could just barely make out a tactile bump at the top of the stroke. The keypress “thock” sound is pleasing to my ear, but too loud for people in the same room. It’s really mostly on the release of each key. The white lighting is nice, but the brightest setting is still pretty dim. It’s not a keeper for me. Not configurable enough, too tall, and too loud.

I use it for work primarily and some gaming. Switches are super sensitive and might not be the best for high fps games. Keys are solid and stable. White backlit and appeal is out of this world (amazing). The thin keycaps have super comfortable finger grooves. Typing with this keyboard is great and I’d highly recommend. While I haven’t used the software that much, I haven’t had any problems so far.

Overall this is such a great keyboard. I got the red switch version of this keyboard because I wanted it to do some gaming and browsing when I’m not doing work. I own a Keychron K4 with Gateron red switches that I use for work and school (general productivity), and this RK keyboard feels much better in my hands. This keyboard feels HEAVY and SOLID, and that’s a 10/10 from me because the sound is immaculate, and nothing feels wobbly or cheap. If you’re looking for a fair-priced, entry-level, wireless, backlit, mechanical keyboard for gaming or productivity with no annoying RGB rice then this is 100% your buy. I didn’t expect much from RK when I bought the keyboard because I saw a really long one-star review that put some doubts into my mind, but after using this keyboard for a while, I’d give this a 10/10 simply because it exceeds all expectations at this price range for a mechanical keyboard. I hope the person that wrote that review eventually puts some respect on RK’s name. The battery on this keyboard is really great because after charging it straight out the box, I heavily gamed on it for four days (DotA 2, GTA, It takes two) and there are no low battery warnings as yet, even while I’m typing this review on it. My nitpick is that I would like to see RK use better quality switches to help them become more competitive because they really have something special going on here. I’ve also noticed that these red switches feel stiffer than the Gateron red switched in my Keychron K4, but to be honest with you I prefer the stiffness for gaming as I don’t accidentally press any keys while my hands are resting on the keyboard (this happened ALOT with my K4). My future buy is a brown switch keyboard and it’s definitely going to be another RK. In the pictures attached to this review you’d see my K4 on the top and the RK987 below to compare their sizes in length and thickness. I’d easily give this keyboard a 10/10 and the K4 a 8/10.

Well its not very tactile so point reduced for that being that its advertised as tactile brown switches. Its got usb type c and its quiet. Not like my e-yooso board which is loud and not even consistent in sound. It doesn’t appear to be swappable but i can solder so i may change to some budget switches when i decide what i like. But if you want a smooth budget keyboard with a removable cable that doesnt bother your work neighbors this is nice.

Im trying not to be over critical and become a keyboard cork sniffer. So don’t expect me to analyze stabilizers and key cap quality. If that’s the kind of person you are you dont need me to tell you and youll probably fix those things yourself.

Key presses do have a tactile feel but rattle and often make a sharp ting when pressed. The keyboard they gave me is missing the “L” key cap, and has a duplicate “;” key cap instead. Customer service took over a month to respond just to say they couldn’t help resolve the issue. In summary this product isn’t risk free, so if your feeling lucky go ahead but otherwise I recommend avoiding the headache.

Hi, I consider myself a keyboard enthusiast, who loves to try new keyboard (mostly mechanical). Hence, when I came across this new brand, I decided to try it. Its very similar to the keychron/RK one. The advantages of using this keyboard are manifold, its mechanical, hot-swappable, customizable, keys and keycaps can be easily removed and replaced. I did this, and they are really easy. I have been using this keyboard for about 2 weeks, and love the Gateron Brown-like switches. The USB-C cable is sturdy, and long enough for most setup. You can use it wireless too. I was really impressed with the overall quality of this keyboard, and would recommend it to anyone.

Mmmmmmmmm, very satisfying clicks. What a great keyboard! After searching and searching, all I could find were good quality Bluetooth keyboards for around $75+. This one takes the cake. Not only is it drastically cheaper than the average price of other comparable keyboards, but they throw in a $17 coupon to bring the keyboard down to just over $40! Killer! On top of all that, I was able to specifically pick the type of click associated with the keys. I did see there were 4 weights of keys in their description, but I never found a “black switch” keyboard offered from this company. I felt like the “brown switch” was too soft. I made frequent typing errors when testing it out. The description of the keys said that the brown and blue had the same weight, but the blue is supposed to make a more noticeable click (Like older computers or typewriters). At that point I really just wanted to find a black switch and be done with it, but I couldn’t. I ended up just getting the Blue in the end. It has a wonderful weight and feel, with very smooth clicks. It definitely feels heavier than the Brown. I can’t say enough how quant and dope this little thing is. I’m very happy with it. I hope it lasts.

The clicking of switches in this mechanical keyboard gives good feedback and the back lights have many different customizable options. I have used this keyboard for one week, and so far, it has not disappointed me. I already have a cherry keyboard, so I bought the brown key + white version. It gives me the tactile feeling I’m looking for. For Win10 users, if you want to connect with Bluetooth, you need to press Fn + Q for about 5 seconds and wait for the key to blink, then the computer can detect the keyboard. I’m not a LED fan, but the light effect is definitely fun to play with.

I have seeking for a mechanical keyboard for a while because of occasionally work from home. I need to go office sometimes. But always bring a keyboard in your bag is not a good idea especially I also need to bring my laptop. My old mechanical keyboard is a pink FILCO. It was so expensive that I do not want to afford it twice. The question is I fall into the habit of using a high-quality mechanical keyboard so I can not just buy and use a normal one. This keyboard is wonderful. The price is one-third of FILCO, but the touch, the look, and the sounds are all perfect for me.
