   This is alright if you dont plan on modding it, EVER. If youre gonna mod it you might as well spend $100 on a better keyboard that already comes with foam. I put boba u4t’s and banana splits but no matter what switches i put, the leyboard sounds absolutely terrible, loud, and screechy. Do not start your keyboard journey with this. I spray painted mine blue and had no issues. Make sure u sand it, do 3-5 LIGHT coats of spray paint, then 2-3 clear coats. Let it dry for an entire day. Dont touch it at all. I used satin spray paint also whats up with these reviews about people saying the letters dont work?? just get a new cheap switch. If thats not the case then rip

   Overall very happy with the way the keyboard is built, made it easy for me to gut it and “soundproof” it. Swapped the switches for linear piano switches, yet after my modifications I had realized the caps key started to turn on when pushing the A or D key. To my luck RK reached out and provided software to fix it as they are familiar with it, now there’s no bug and I’m happy I don’t have to change my key settings prior to playing any games.

   The board itself is fine. It has north facing switches instead of south facing, so Cherry profile keycap users beware, there will be interference. The RGB is pretty dim, but it exists. The effects look pretty awful in motion because the color transitions are not smooth at all, but what do you expect at this price point? The thing I absolutely cannot forgive is how god-awful the software is. It’s horrible to navigate, and it’s impossible to figure out how to make changes to your FN layer. You would think it’s the “Custom functions” option, but no. When I try to change it so that my Esc key is ` when holding down FN, it just makes the entire switch’s keybinding ` and removes the Esc functionality, which is just absolutely terrible. If the software gets fixed to make any amount of sense, I can actually recommend this board as a beginner custom keyboard, but until such a point, you’re better off spending more money on something that’s VIA compatible instead.

    This is my second Royal kludge keyboard and third in the family between my partner and I. My work keyboard was a razr huntsman mini and I used it for a year and I just wasn’t a fan. I have the RK84 at home and I wanted a smaller factor one at work because I use my home one to game. So this RK68 65% wa a perfect for me. The Razr was 60% and home one was 70% so right in the middle. Love the feel, the fact that the keyboard is hotswappable, buttons are clean out of the box, easy to use. Great brand for affordable hotswappable keyboards! Great for work!

    I’ve tried to reach out to the company multiple times through email. I’ve only received 1 response and it was to tell me to reach out to a different email within the company, which made almost no sense since it was a support email that I originally messaged. Save your money, I’ve had 20 dollar keyboards that worked better than this thing.

    UPDATE: after posting this review they reached out and offered me a full refund within 3 days. Don’t bother trying to contact them through anything but go-keyboard.com. I’ve changed my review score to reflect how easily they made up for the issue.

    The fact that a keyboard of this quality exists for the price is a testament to just how good of a brand Royal Kludge really is. Sure, the switches might not be the best, and the ABS caps aren’t going to last too long…but the board itself has a hot-swap PCB, so it should be good to go for a long time. You even have the option to customize it too!
