   PROS: Was given this keyboard as a gift from a friend March 10th, 2022. I love how compact this keyboard is, but I definitely had to relearn how to type on it since I was using a full keyboard before. Also, definitely figure out what sound of keycap you like before buying. My friend knows nothing about switches and picked blue because its my favorite color, and they sound exactly the same as my other keyboard, which is a membrane keyboard. If you’re looking for a good sound, go with red or brown switches. I also immediately switched the keycaps on this keyboard to something that fit my aesthetic more and figured out quickly that you won’t be able to swap the switches easily as a beginner, so make sure you’re set on your decision for those. CONS: The only bad part of this keyboard is the fact that now, after 7 months, I am experiencing glitches. I have had it wired the whole time and I decided to unplug and re-plug it into my computer today. Instantly the keys stopped working and I have not figured it out despite factory resetting the keyboard, pressing Fn and left ctrl, going into settings, etc. The only thing that “helped” was unwiring it and just setting it to bluetooth and connecting it to my computer. I’m hoping it continues to survive with bluetooth, but I have heard that it has a lot of key glitches during bluetooth mode and that it becomes annoying to deal with. I am hoping that this keyboard will at least survive a year.

   Solid keyboard, doesn’t bend easily, blue keys feel nice and clicky. Has lots of RGB color modes and very good color. BUT Right out of the box I noticed A bad RGD on the space bar, the red/orange color doesn’t go away or change colors when switching through the different color modes and turning brightness all the way off, it just stays on all the time. Maybe it’s just one keyboard that slipped through the cracks but I feel like this should have been caught in the inspection if they even do that with their products. Might return to get another one, but I wouldn’t pay the full price for this keyboard, I had a lightning deal discount code.

   Honestly for it’s price, it’s a very nice setup. The RK Red switches are IMO not bad once you add some lube to them. They are very cheap starting price so you can customize or mod them however you’d like and not feel too bad about it if something breaks while also having a very reliable keyboard underneath. My biggest complaint is that out of the box this keyboard has absolutely no weight to it. I took a metal support and cut a piece off and it fit comfortably in the bottom of the case and the foam holds it in place so there’s 0 rattling. The keyboard feels WAY more premium after doing this. You could also pour silicone into the base to dampen sound and add weight. Again, it’s a cheap keyboard so who cares if you’re trying out something new and it isn’t great. I think I have 5 of them so far and each one is a little different. It’s nice to have comparisons of the same product imo so you have clear data and I’ve so far just been a big fan of this keyboard for it’s price and ability to do what I need. EDIT: One problem, and I’d consider it a semi-major problem, I’ve noticed is that when you are using the Keyboard over Bluetooth, it has a tendency to not send keypresses. I thought maybe it was interference from the keyboard and the computer since there is so much 2.4ghz present nowadays, but I happened to be on a rural road with nothing to do so I figured I’d test out the keyboard with my laptop in the car. Even when I am no where near any interference, the keyboard still has a hard time keeping a strong connection with my device. That being said, I mostly use the keyboard wired and I have NEVER noticed a missed keystroke when it was plugged in, so still I think this keyboard is a tremendous value, but understand that the bluetooth functionality is really not well implemented and there are no dedicated dongles for you to make this a wireless keyboard essentially making the wireless capability unusable without severe frustration.

    I’m so impressed with this company. The keyboard I received was not connecting via bluetooth, so I reached out to customer support and they replied almost immediately to help me. The troubleshooting didn’t fix the problem, so they sent me a brand new one AND let me keep the other one. They were incredibly helpful. The keyboard itself is fantastic quality and the brown switches sound like heaven. I changed the key caps, but the ones it came with were really high quality and super nice! I just wanted different profile keycaps. Once I received the new keyboard, it connected to bluetooth immediately and I haven’t had a problem since!     If you’re looking for something to personalize and not just pull out of the box and use, then this is a pretty great pick. The switches are fine, the keycaps aren’t so great, but the core of the board is pretty good. The PCB is hotswap, it has bluetooth which makes it a great fit for also using with a tablet, and the price is pretty decent for what you’re getting. My only real complaint is the angle at which the board sits. The board doesn’t have any fold out feet to adjust the typing angle, so you get what they give you… and for my tastes it’s a little bit flat. That aside, though, this is a fantastic keyboard

    I have really enjoyed this keyboard. I went with the red switches for mine. It works as well as my ducky one 2 mini did, the only issue I could find was the included keycaps not having translucent text so that the rgb would shine through more. I just switched out most of the keycaps out with my ducky’s keycaps as they are translucent and I think it looks great.

    Everything works nicely but I didn’t expect the first keys to be like this cause I didn’t look at the pictures close enough. They still work but it’s just a hassle to press ctrl+fn and then press it again to untoggle. Also reminder that this isn’t the rgb one it’s the one with one light cause I kinda didn’t read it properly. And the ‘white’ light doesn’t match the rest of my setup well.

    I use this product for gaming and for school work. It is great! At first my caps lock was acting as a shift, but all I needed to do was download the software which you can program keys to work as others, (for example where a enter key can be used as a backspace or something), I just put it back to caps lock and it was fine. Factory lubed red switches were decent, but sounds way better after lubed. The keycaps that come with it are great but I replaced them to match my gaming settup.

    I bought this keyboard to use at work to replace the giant membrane one that came with my workstation. I also wanted something with a small footprint since I don’t have a lot of desk space. I write a lot of documentation at work (therapist at a VA hospital) after treating people, so in the few months I’ve had this board, it’s seen heavy use. I haven’t had any issues at all with it. It’s small and takes up very little space, and it has everything I need button-wise. My only gripe is that when caps lock is on, you can barely tell. There’s no LED indicator on the board, and the RGB lighting behind the keys makes a hardly noticeable difference when it’s activated. Other than that, I’d definitely recommend this to someone looking for a board with a small footprint or someone wanting to try out a more affordable mechanical board before moving up in price to something better.

    The RK68 is a great beginner board if you’re just getting into the hobby of mechanical keyboards. It’s easy to mod, comes with all the bells and whistles stock, and works for any office/personal environment. I bought this with the intention to make this my portable keyboard, as it was lightweight and had all the features I needed. This is used between a PC, MAC, and a couple of linux boxes. It connects fine to all devices, even when running bluetooth. Haven’t tested with my Raspberry Pi, but I don’t think it’s going to be an issue there. It’s 2023 and surprisingly only a few are mentioning that this already comes foamed and lubed out of the box. When replacing the keycaps and switches, i noticed that the stabs had a decent amount of lube on them, so there was no rattle. Even the spacebar was quiet – they had filled the plate gap with foam to prevent dust and minimize rattle. Removing the keycaps and switches, I could see there was definitely foam between the plate and PCB – a pleasant surprise. The back also doesn’t sound as hollow, so I’m guessing they added foam to fill the space where the battery is, as well. I was already happy with the sound and feel, so I skipped the tape mod and only replaced the keycaps and swapped out the reds for Gateron Milky Yellows. It sounds and feels fantastic. Just calling out that this is LED (single blue light) and not RGB. It’s also dual mode – Bluetooth and wired – with no USB dongle. So if both items are important for you, look elsewhere. This board has the potential to sound however you like, depending on how you tune it. It all comes down to preference. But for what you’re getting out of the box and for that price – it’s a great everyday keyboard at an incredible starter value with a lot of potential down the road.

    This keyboard is really good, not perfect, but gets the job done.     The first RK68 I got had a bad PCB socket. Happily the board includes 4 spare switches so I was able to test it by swapping the switches. The replacement went smoothly. Aside from shipping with average quality ABS keycaps, I really love this board. It’s not super quiet but it is portable, pleasant to type on, and has VERY reliable bluetooth over every OS I’ve paired it to (macOS/Windows/iPadOS/Android). I use it wired at home on my work PC, over BT at the office with my work Mac. I find that I prefer the nice blue-white backlight to RGB. It looks fantastic on this board. What really made this keyboard shine was a set of new PBT keycaps. Sure that sounds damning with faint praise, but it isn’t. The new keycaps are Cherry profile and work fine in spite of the board having north-facing LEDs, but they feel far more suited to the board’s profile and improve the sound immensely. Cherry profile and north-facing LEDs are a thing in the hobby but that’s a rabbithole you don’t need to explore with the RK68. I found the legends on the stock keycaps a bit…busy…which was my initial motivation to replace them. There is a lot of functionality on the stock caps and they are shine through. That’s not nothing, but I still prefer the effect the aftermarket caps have. While I plan to do some real modding to this board, it’s great as is, and if you’re looking for a highly moddable but still sweet stock board, I would recommend the RK68.

    Initial review after 1 day of use (note: I purchased this on sale for $45.59, which is the price it was at for about 1 from mid-October to mid-November. Don’t know how regularly this goes on sale though) The first thing you’ll notice when you get this is how clean it looks. It really does look great, and if you want a clean look this is a great choice. The second thing you notice is how heavy it is. I don’t have a scale to weight it, but I would’ve believed it weighed a full 2lbs (listed weight is 1.74lbs). This might make it slightly less portable than preferable, but it also makes it have more solid feel to it. For comparison, the 60% version of this keyboard is 1.6lbs, while the Anne Pro 2 (60%) is 1.4lbs, and the Dierya DK63 (60%) wireless is 1.54lbs. Typing on this feels nice, though I don’t have a point of reference for other brown switches. I will say it has less of a tactile feel than I was expecting. The sound is relatively muted, but if you tap down hard on a key there is some reverb from the case that has a *cling* sound that is not enjoyable. You have to push down harder than at least I do for normal typing for this to happen though. Some of the keys have slightly different sounds than others (I sadly don’t have a good enough recording setup for it to come through clearly) that is noticeable when you tap them one after another, but not when you’re doing normal typing or gaming. If you’re coming from a non-mechanical keyboard, the keys will still sound a bit loud and you will likely make a few typos but brown keys like these make for the easiest transition into mechanical keyboards. Connectivity has worked great, zero problems connecting via bluetooth or via the provided detachable USB-C to USB-A cable. The cable itself is pretty nice and I’m glad they included it, as it’s probably a $5-10 value all on its own. I love the 65% keyboard design, as I use my “delete” button quite regularly and I enjoy having dedicated up/down/left/right arrows. Hard to find another 65% keyboard in this price range. All of the key functions are printed on top of the keys instead of the sides. This does make the number row look a tad cluttered, but I find this much easier than having the function keys and the bluetooth connection options printed on the side of the keys. For consistency, they put all of the shift functions to the right of the main function which I don’t prefer, but it’s a compromise I’m happy to make. There are a few downsides with this keyboard though. The first is that, as far as I can tell, there is no way of checking the battery life on them. Such functionality is not listed anywhere in the user manual. I plan on simply charging it every night when I go to bed so it shouldn’t be a problem, but would be nice to know ESPECIALLY for travelling. The one place this functionality is within the software, but downloading the software has not worked for me. Despite connecting easily via USB to my laptop, the software downloader does not recognize the device plugged in. The laptop is 100% plug and play on my Dell XPS (using windows 10) though. The function keys don’t do what is listed on them and without the software I have no way of fixing this. This means I still need to reach for my laptop keyboard to adjust volume or screen brightness. Lastly, the wrist angle the keyboard makes me use is uncomfortable after an hour or more of use. I plan on buying a wrist rest for this device, but finding one that fits a 65% keyboard is difficult. This is one downside to they keyboard’s atypical size. Overall, I enjoy this keyboard. It looks great, the brown switches feel much better to type on than even a quality laptop keyboard like on the Dell XPS, and it comes in at a great price (I bought mine on sale for $45.59). I have some small complaints, but nothing that would stop me from recommending this device.

    8/10 upon purchase. I have purchased 3 of these & modded all of them. PROS : Layout, Metal frame, Hot-swap & price point are stellar. CONS : The switches aren’t that great, so I ended up throwing in a set of Gateron Inky Blue V2’s. Not only do I love how those switches feel & sound, they make the lighting look more Blue instead of the Soft Yellow-ish White. Additionally I put in as many wheel weights as possible to give it some Mass. With these mods, it is now a 11/10 Keyboard. Absolutely love.

    Just wanted to dip my toes in mechanical keyboards and this really hit all the marks. Feels solid, little heft to it, doesn’t slide around, BT works well, detachable USB-C to USB-A it comes with is fairly nice and long, even the lighting has plenty of variety that I didn’t think I’d like. The Brown switches were exactly what I was looking for. Tactile feels good to type on with just enough clickiness to be audible without being uncomfortably loud. Bought some Cherry-style keycaps on sale just to mix it up a bit. It’s not hot swappable so if you want to do anything on the board like change out the stabilizers, you’ll have to desolder the switch and push it out, but it’s easy to remove the plate/PCB, bottom, and controller with a small phillips. There was a little bit of a learning curve to figure out the function/macro keys as it seemed fiddly at first, but I also thought the Mac legends under the Function keys were Windows shortcuts so it was probably just a combination of user error and not understanding (the instructions are adequate but serviceable at best). My only real criticism is for myself that I didn’t realize how often I use the Home and End keys in terminals and this keyboard doesn’t have those. There may be a key combination for that, but I haven’t found it yet.

    The keyboard survived approximately a year of service before it started to become erratically unresponsive. I would use it as my primary keyboard for my laptop so I wanted something less expensive than an actual mechanical keyboard. I wasn’t expecting the difference in price between royal kludge and other actual reputable brands’ products to be revealed in a very short life span. The keyboard saw near nightly use as it would be used during slow times at work when I would have enough down time to get gaming sessions in. This keyboard however started to be unresponsive when I would type, not registering keystrokes at times. This became entirely unacceptable when I was playing Fortnite Festival and the keyboard messed up my FC of the search on expert difficulty vocals. The keyboard was punished for being the cheap Chinese garbage that it is.

    This is my first mechanical keyboard that I am aware of owning. I don’t care about colored RGB, so the single color blue backlight is perfect for me, although I wish the lowest brightness was a little less bright. The keys are not loud, but they are a little noisy when they bottom out, which I do consistently when typing. The RGB has multiple lighting patterns like waves, lighting just the arrow keys, etc., but I just use the solid light or none.
    There is software to reprogram the keys but I have not tried it yet. I’m not thrilled with the Home and End requiring a Function key which shows one down side of reprogramming the keys which is that if I change Home and End I can’t just move they keycaps because they also have ][ and }{ on them and I want them where they are, so the key labels wouldn’t match. This is a minor quibble.
    I have only used the keyboard over USB, not Bluetooth, since I don’t want to broadcast my keystrokes or experience possible lag.
    Also, the keyboard is heavy and solid and feels like good quality.
    Overall I’m very pleased.

    At first glance, this keyboard seems like a dream: -Wired/Wireless modes -PC/Mac mode -backlight -hot swappable -affordable I was really excited for this keyboard, because it seemed like it hit all of the critical criteria I wanted in a keyboard, as mentioned above. But it turns out its hot swap compatibility is limited. Another reviewer mentions it here, and I really wish I’d seen that before purchasing two of these. The LED lights bulge out, making it incompatible with certain switches, such as Gateron Ink switches. Any switches whose bottom housing does NOT have the gap/space to accommodate that bulged out LEDs will NOT fit this keyboard. I’ve added a picture for reference. OTHERWISE: This keyboard has excellent potential. On its own, without any modifications, it’s all right. IF you don’t care about how it sounds, then it’s an excellent choice for you. BUT if you DO care about how it sounds and if you care about modifying it: the keycaps are thin, and overall no matter which switch you choose from the configurations offered here (red/linear; brown/tactile; blue/clicky), the sound signature is kinda whack. BUT, modifying the case with foam, lubricating the switches and the stabilizers, and changing the keycaps to thicker ones will improve EVERYTHING exponentially. As I’ve mentioned, I purchased two of these keyboards. I’ve modified both of them with foam inside the case, replaced the switches with ones I prefer (with lubrication and switch films), and also replaced the keycaps with thicker PBT ones. After those modifications, typing on this keyboard has been a joy. The sound signature is vastly improved, and the key-feel is excellent. I use the keyboard mostly wireless, and I haven’t had any issues with maintaining Bluetooth connection. There doesn’t seem to be any significant input delays (I type 90-110+ WPM). The battery life seems to be excellent, at least as far as one day’s worth of use, fully wireless and with LED on. Bottom line: -If you’re getting this keyboard and don’t plan on doing any modifications: IT IS EXCELLENT. -If you’re getting this keyboard with plans to MODIFY, be aware of the limitation in switch compatibility.
