   TLDR: Solid keyboard with Wired, Wireless (2.4Ghz dongle + 2 Bluetooth pofiles)

   Solid aluminum but light. Amazing button placement, stick, touchpad. Great volume wheel (had to mention it after the disappointing one on my new red dragon keyboard for my desktop. 2 Bluetooth profiles and 1 wireless dongle means this can be set up to work on 3 devices and toggle between them! Using this on a Nvidia Shield (android tv) I must say I was impressed with the touchpad tracking over bluetooth. So much so that I started considering using moonlight to stream FPS games that don’t require too much fast reaction. Star Citizen from bed with the analogue stick for flight control? Maybe if I’m sick and can’t leave the room. May need to see if that’s possible…

   Feels solid, wouldn’t recommend shoving it in a backpack if you care about the stick in the top right, since it protrudes a bit. Rechargeable internal battery via USB which also carries a data connection so you can use it with a PC while it’s charging even without the wireless dongle.

   I got this to use in our theater room with our Roku Ultra. The very title of the product says it is compatible with streaming boxes. Roku is like, the father of streaming boxes and yet, no dice. I will say that it looks purty and seems high quality and well made, but honestly I can’t speak to how it actually works since I don’t seem to have a compatible device to use it with. *sad face*

   The best feature of this product was how easy it was to pair to my laptop, monitor, and TV! I love that I can take this everywhere because of how many uses it has. The design is very minimal, and the trackpad works great for the price point. You can tell this keyboard was designed with gaming in mind because of the similarities between standard gaming controllers and the remote style trackpad and buttons on the right side. Overall the battery life is decent and performs well for the price! It is super versatile and can also control any electronic device in your house! How convenient!

   I’ve used Corsair products on my PC builds for years and I’m typing this review from my K95 RGB mechanical keyboard, so I’m pretty familiar with the Corsair brand and ecosystem. I’ve used the K83 extensively for the past several months and in my testing, this is a fantastic keyboard and worthy of the Corsair name and premium price. ► My Setup & Testing with the K83: I’ve used the K83 exclusively with my Sony XBR55A9F Bravia TV via Bluetooth and at least in this setup, the K83 performs perfectly. I scanned over some reviews before writing mine and I’m surprised at the beating this keyboard has taken. Maybe there are problems with the USB receiver or when using the K83 in different media environments, e.g. gaming, where it’s not paired directly with a smart TV, I’m not sure. But paired with a Sony smart TV using Android TV via Bluetooth, it’s an amazing experience. ► Why the K83 or a Keyboard at All? If you’re wondering why you’d even want a keyboard for your media center or smart TV, think of it this way – the K83 can do almost all the functions of the regular remote (minus specialty keys) plus the added benefit of a keyboard, trackpad, and a joystick. Convenience is off the charts with the K83. For example, when wanting to watch a movie, I can simply type out the title instead of using the Android voice assistant or remote to individually select characters. The joystick turns the smart TV menu into a simple point-and-click interface to launch apps, etc. The volume wheel is self-explanatory and works perfectly! ► Build Quality & Battery: The overall build quality is actually pretty close to my K95 and uses brushed aluminum with plastic concave keycaps. The backlighting isn’t RGB but a nice clear white backlight with each key receiving both character and perimeter lighting which makes typing in a dark room easy. Keypresses are sufficiently tactile for this style keyboard and feel good. Similarly, the joystick can be depressed to make onscreen selections. The volume adjuster is balanced to move easily while providing resistance to make minute adjustments. My couch is about 10-12 feet from my TV and I have no problems with range. I’ve tested the keyboard in the furthest corner of my room, about 25 feet from the TV and can use the keyboard with no lag or spotty connectivity so no complaints there. The battery is advertised at 40-hours of use and although I haven’t explicitly tested that claim, it’s really good. When watching a movie the keyboard will enter a low-power sleep mode after a few minutes and the backlighting can be configured to shut off after a few seconds of inactivity or remain continuously on. ► In the Box: >> K83 keyboard >> USB wireless dongle (not needed for Bluetooth setups/pairing) >> USB-to-USB micro charging cable >> Instruction booklet >> Warranty card ► Closing: I haven’t used this keyboard with Steam (big picture mode) or any of the other myriad of scenarios where it makes sense and folks seem to encounter issues so that is one thing to consider with my review. At least in my household and used as a media center keyboard the K83 is a top performer. Recommended!

    I have gone through a lot of keyboards that I’ve used for a home media set up. In my case, I power a lot of the home media functionality through a laptop that connects via HDMI to the (TV/projector/receiver). For this type of setup, I need a wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad. I have tried several home media keyboards from Logitech, which are OK but the keys are not that great. I’ve tried a couple of full sized Bluetooth keyboards from Logitech as well, and those are easy to type on but look very clunky and out of place and get a disapproving snear from those with aesthetic standards. Thankfully, this Corsair K83 keyboard hits the sweet spot in terms of aesthetics, usability and keyboard feel. It’s my new best pal as I’m using my laptop to power my TV. What’s really nice about this keyboard: Good key feel–they are chiclet style keys, but they have consider depth to them. Full sized alphanumeric keyboard. Some of the specialty keys are missing, but the standard letters and numbers are standard size and where they should be. (See photo for comparison of this keyboard with a standard sized keyboard). Can support up to three wireless connections: One via the wireless dongle that comes with it, and two more via Bluetooth. And you can switch among them by just pressing a Function Key. Fantastic battery life: Rated for 40 hours on one charge. (I have used it for about 20 hours and it’s still going strong) Nice volume spinner widget. Nice joystick that can be used to scroll up/down/left/right. The keyboard is backlit to allow easy use in dark rooms What’s annoying about this keyboard: To keep the size down, they have removed dedicated buttons for Delete, Page Up, Page Down, etc. (Those functions are available via the Function Key +). Most of these I rarely use, so I don’t care too much, but there are instances where I really need Delete (rather than Backspace, which does have the standard devoted key). Thankfully, there is a standard dedicated ESC key (hear that, Apple!?) There’s a trigger switch on the back of the keyboard that I found myself continually pressing when I didn’t want to use it. Thankfully, you can disable it if you install the iCue software that Corsair offers. The default speed of the track pad is very slow (but easily fixed via iCue software). When using the USB dongle, I sporadically would find that cursor was unresponsive. I didn’t observe this issue with Bluetooth, though. The trackpad is not as responsive as the very best trackpads I’ve used, but it’s fine for a media center. Other things to note: You need to go to Corsair and download the iCue software to control the options available to the keyboard. This is a nice app that works well (and automatically updated the firmware of the keyboard when I first installed it). The iCue app is necessary for things like turning off the underside button, for changing the speed of the trackpad, and for defining macros if you want them. (See photos). There is a gaming mode for the keyboard that changes some of the functionality of the keyboard. Honestly, I can’t imagine doing any serious gaming from this keyboard (the joystick is fine for navigating Microsoft Windows, but it would be lousy for hardcore precision gaming). In gaming mode, you would probably find use for that underside button that I disabled. The keyboard isn’t cheap. I feel that there is probably a bit of over engineering here to try to shoehorn in both a PC controller keyboard and a gaming controller into one platform. For my use, the keyboard is going to be the focus, and I wish I could get all that functionality without the gaming mode for maybe a bit less. On the whole, this is now my favorite media center keyboard–and I have tried a LOT of them. It’s fairly expensive for a keyboard, and includes some features I would have been just as happy not to have, but those are nits on what’s a very nice controller board.

    The keyboard is incredibly well build with a nice sturdy feel. Though most importantly the keyboard is a supposed entertainment keyboard and contrast to most other so-called entertainment keyboards it actually has lit up keys – because who wants to have their lights on while sitting in entertainment mode? The keyboard works well out of the box for non Mac OS devices but requires an annoying upgrade process for Mac OS, but once don it’ll work perfectly fine as well. The only downside is that the touchpad is not multi touch.

    You pay a premium for “quality” product from Corsair, and I’ll admit their hardware is some of the best I’ve ever used. So good that I built my entire computer out of Corsair producs, bought their mousepad, keyboards, mice, headset, headset stand, and headset. However, I’ve come to find out that this quality hardware is completely ruined by inept software engineers. You’ll find it’s very command that you have to go and find an old version of iCue because the newer ones are a buggy mess that doesn’t even work standalone, not to mention all the incompatibility. This “gaming” hardware does not work with OBS or Streamlabs, it will make you unable to use any game/desktop audio on your stream if you want to use iCue equalizer or surround sound. I bluescreen constantly every time there is a windows or corsair update, and I’ve narrowed this down to the software for the Vengeance RAM in particular, plenty of IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. With iCue not open no BSODs at all. I have constant issues with the sensors on the temperatures reading inaccurate temps that cause my fans to go crazy til I restart iCue. The newest update gives me a little error that says I need to repair because I can no longer use macros or key mapping. I tried repairing, I tried clean installs, and it will never be fixed no matter what I do. I was using the keymapping for my job, and now I’m SOL til I get a different keyboard because the software decided I didn’t need keymapping anymore. Can’t stress enough how quality the hardware is, they did a great job on it, however, the software is unfortunately a pillar that is very necessary for the hardware to work. The software is some of the worst I’ve seen come from any company with the least support I’ve ever seen. The only advice I’ve seen on any forum is to A.) Reinstall or B.) Get an older version. How about C.) Fix your crap. Your components and hardware are more expensive than competitors, why can’t you use that money to hire a competent engineer to make your software AT LEAST work standalone. I have 6 useless keys to the left of my hand and a lot of regret investing in Corsair, they have sorely let me down. I own the Obsidian SE case, 32g 3600mhz vengeance, H100i Platinum, HX1200i, Commander Pro, 5 rgb fans, LS100 with 6 strips, ST100, Virtuoso, ironclaw wireless, a K95 platinum XT, a MM800 RGB polaris and a K83. All of these products are physically quality. But do NOT buy them unless you’re prepared for constant bluescreens, compatibility, and standalone errors. You’ve failed me Corsair.

    I only bought this due to it advertising Windows Touchpad Precision drivers. However the experience is terrible. 1) You have to follow special directions on their website to even turn on gesture control for 3-4 fingers and smooth zooming, which should clue you in right away on why this isn’t the default mode. 2) The ouchpad is clearly unable to perform well with Precision gesture controls turned on. The mouse frequently skipped around to corners of the screen randomly when scrolling, as well as just not registering 3 finger gestures or pinch zooming half the time despite touchpad sensitivity being turned up to the highest. This happened with both the wireless dongle connection AS WELL as wired mode, with the newest drivers, which tells me this is a fundamental hardware issue with the Touchpad.

    However if you don’t care about smooth pinch zoom or gestures, this keyboard is good. Very good build quality, good lighting, and the touchpad works well if NOT being used in the Precision mode. But it’s just not worth it for the money, as there are much cheaper logitech alternatives that work just as well if not better.
