    Keychron is a small Hong Kong company with a good idea: to offer high quality mechanical keyboards at a good price. They save on overhead costs by not offering any accompanying software, for example.

    Their wireless implementation is extremely spotty and sub-par. The keyboard works fine using a cable but they haven’t been able to fix the many wireless issues you can find just by googling.

    I’ve had this keyboard for three months now as my main one on my standing desk.

    As a programmer, I am coming from a G512 keyboard. I find myself always going back to that when it’s serious crunch time. This here is a great keyboard for substituting your “real” one in times that you aren’t in high output mode but still want to conserve real estate on your desk. You will still get the mechanical keys with the number pad but not have it be a huge plate of plastic taking up more space.

    I’m a tactile kind of girl, but not in a clicky blue switch way. For a while, I’ve had a keyboard with red switches, and although they’re all right, I sure do make many mistakes, and it didn’t work for me while gaming. A while ago, I got a 60% keyboard with brown optical switches for gaming, and I fell love. For that reason, I decided to get the Keychron K4 as a daily driver for work, school, and gaming. However, a few things concerned me about this keyboard; the height, the keycaps not being PBT, and that small 0 key in the number keypad. So I will go into detail on my take on my main concerns. First things first, this is the stiletto of keyboards. It is 1.5 inches in height from the bottom to the top of the spacebar. It is by far the tallest keyboard I’ve ever used. With that being said, if you plan to get it, I encourage you to get a rigid palm rest, like gel, wood, or something like that. I have an old one that I’ve been using, and it works like a charm. My fingers don’t get tired, and I feel that it is comfortable enough for me. The keycaps are not PBT, so you will probably notice a sound difference if you are picky like me. However, they are incredibly stable, and the font and lighting are on point. The video clip I added is after I lubed the switches. I forgot to take one before, but I think you can find one on YouTube. Another thing with these keycaps is that they tend to get shiny very quickly due to your fingers’ oils. This is a 96% keyboard, so some of the keys have different sizing from the regular 100% keyboard. This could be an issue if you plan to purchase customized keycaps at an affordable price. When I wrote this review, I only found two manufacturers; one was affordable, but with limited selection, the other cost more than the actual keyboard. So keep that in mind. I work in accounting, and my concern was that I would have a hard time using the number keypad. However, that was not the case. It was just a matter of getting used to it by bringing in the thumb when typing. Overall, I love it with all its perfect imperfections, so I’ll keep it like it is, and I’ll update if anything changes in the future.

    Works amazingly for gaming, keys are easy to customize, lighting is great with lots of settings. Battery life is great, connectivity is awesome as well. I got the one with the optical switches, and wow are they lightning fast the respond and smooth.

    Its great. Feels good the switches are good, the key caps are good. Lighting is subtle and good. The sound is good. Compatibility though? Might need a little work? But honestly for a keyboard I can configure? Its pretty good. I use it in linux primarily, which requires some config but what doesn’t when you work in linux. And the configuration for extra features is plenty doable.

    In windows and on a phone its pretty out of the box compatible nothing to do to it.

    Uses a USB-C cable so that is a plus and the cable they provide is AWESOME. Build quality is great, minimal flex on the keyboard. Its tight and compact so very space saving while having the ten key you need for data entry or other tasks.

    I recommend this board at full price.
