   I was looking for an upgrade from my go-keyboard.com Basics keyboard, especially since my laptop’s built in keyboard wouldn’t always respond to key presses. Pros: I enjoyed the unboxing experience. The included USB to USB-C cable is nice. It has a nice feel and sound. When you press the edge of the space bar, the space bar moves down with that edge. It is very well built. I wasn’t looking for RGB, but I was hoping to get something slightly nicer looking. The only thing is, I’m finding I actually like how the keyboard looks. I recommend keeping one ore two of the keys red, though. Cons: Having no “fn” key on the left side makes opening the HUD in Minecraft difficult to, as “fn” + “F3” is a two-handed operation on this keyboard. A lack of the “SysRq” key also means I have to switch back to the full size go-keyboard.com Basics keyboard for REISUBing a Linux system. Improvements: Did I say Linux? Yes, you can use this keyboard on a Linux machine. None of the marketing mentions Linux, but a note in the box mentions they have a social media page for their Linux community. I’d like to see Linux (and Android!) mentioned on the go-keyboard.com page. Also, it comes with a cable, which is something that should be mentioned as well. Full disclosure, the keyboard was on a 50% off “Overstock Sale” when I bought it. My guess is they needed to get more reviews on the product (it had less than 50), but if that was their strategy then I’m playing right into it.

   I’m really impressed with the quality of this keyboard for the price. I know from experience that anything you buy from Keychron is going to be good quality. I previously bought the K4 Pro (also pictured for comparison) with blue switches, and it’s a very tactile and clicky experience. The K8 that I’m reviewing here came with brown switches, which have a deeper sound profile and are a bit less obnoxious if you’re typing in an office setting. Still a very satisfying typing experience in its own way. I have no complaints with this keyboard so far. The keyboard comes with all the accessories you need to customize it, including Windows and alt keycaps. I would recommend this keyboard.

   I wanted a 10keyless bluetooth keyboard to use with my docking station when I work from home and this one checks all the boxes. Bluetooth connectivity is solid and very easy to connect, there are two levels to the risers on the back depending on how high you’d like your keyboard to be, and the battery life is extremely long. I purchased the Brown switch model and the keys feel very responsive, they have a little resistance to them which is nice when typing and the noise level is minimal compared to Blue switches. All in all this is a great keyboard for a great price.

   I missed the mechanical thunk thunk and beige colorway from late 80s/early 90s school computers and this baby delivers. The included cable with the end that sits flush against the keyboard is a nice touch and I appreciate the Mac/Windows options as someone that switches between the two.

   The switches are decent. The main issue is that the battery dies every couple days and the keyboard would disconnect randomly during games.
