   I ordered this mouse to do double-duty: gaming and work on my laptop. It’s comfortable to use and ergodynamic. The thumb rest is a cut-in covered in soft rubber, which makes it easy to grip. The cord is longer than average, which makes up for its not being wireless. Out of the box, I plugged it into the USB port on my PC to see how well it worked as straight plug-and-play. No problems at all; it was immediately recognized by the OS and I was able to use it a minute or so later to work in Excel. The wheel and left\right buttons are sturdy and the mouse is responsive even on a table without a pad. Next, I loaded the Basilisk software. This downloaded quickly and installed without an issue. The software is intuitive and, possibly most importantly, allows the user to create “macros” that are useful in gaming. Each of the 7 buttons on the mouse is programmable, including the 2 buttons above the thumb rest, so a player has multiple options. Just in front of the thumb rest is a place to insert the included trigger button. Once installed, this sticks out a bit but is incredibly sensitive and easy to use without needing to move your thumb. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good crossover mouse. It’s great for slogging through laptop work and is a super sophisticated game controller. The lighted logo on the palm area is also a nice touch.

   This mouse is quite comfortable and can track surfaces smoothly and precisely. Everything about the mouse is great except for the scroll wheel. It’s without a doubt the worst scroll wheel I’ve ever encountered on a mouse. The scroll wheel is very wobbly, you can move it up and down in-between the resistive points where it registers input. Furthermore, even once you push the scroll wheel over it’s resistive points, it often fails to register any input at all. Then, when you scroll it one notch further in the direction you started, it will register input twice. The mouse does have a resistance adjustment wheel beneath it, however, this only makes the wheel more or less stiff, and the issues I describe above persist through whatever setting the resistance wheel is set to. This makes it extremely difficult to play any games or use any program that feature scrollable content (basically everything). For this reason, I cannot recommend this mouse. I’ve purchased three of these mice from different places, and all of them, brand new, have this exact same issue.

   This mouse fits my hand like a glove, it’s not too small but not to big either. I’ve owned this mouse before and had to buy another one when I gifted my other one to my girlfriend. I use this mouse to play counterstrike and i have to say it’s honestly the best mouse I’ve played any FPS with. The grip on the side could use some work (where you have your thumb placed) since the glue or whatever does tend to start to peel off. It is also pretty hard to clean this mouse but not really needed unless you have greasy or cheeto fingers. Sweat does accumulate on the mouse buttons but that’s easy to clean. There’s also a clutch sensitivity well basically an extra button formed into a magnetic paddle that allows you to change sensitivity on the fly especially in competitive games whilst you scope in from a far and your DPI is too high to get an accurate shot. For the price this mouse is awesome.

   I like the feel of this mouse! I bought it in white. I was using the black Logitech G403 Hero (in pictures) before this, a 3 year old one that had major scroll-wheel problems that we couldn’t fix (reversing scroll direction randomly). It’s cute, matches my setup better. The colors and lights are bright and pretty. It feels super comfortable, love the thumb rest. My palm to middle finger tip length is 6.5 inches for reference, and I feel this is a slightly better fit than the G403. It’s slightly heavier than the G304, but I like this, and the buttons are a little hard to press, but I think I can get used to that with time. The scroll wheel resistance is adjustable, and I noticed some other reviewers thought even then it was too much. But you just have to really push hard when it gets to the end to make the resistance go way down and it feels perfect. The thumb button doesn’t seem to be in the way for me- but I probably have smaller hands? than others. Over all it feels nice quality. I hope it lasts and I continue to love it! 🙂

    I used to be a hardcore PC gamer years ago, and having used several other Razer mice such as the Naga and Naga Chroma, this mouse is a bit of a step down in terms of potential functionality but, that’s exactly what I was looking for (I don’t need 12 side buttons anymore!). As soon as I plugged the mouse in to my laptop, it lit up right away in the usual Razer style with the “breathing” led effect cross-fading from one color to the next. The Razer Synapse software also popped up on-screen a moment later, prompting me to install. It doesn’t get any more “plug-n-play” than that. Simple! If you just wanted a cool, but basic mouse, you can opt not to install the Synapse software, but if you want to be able to customize what the LEDs and buttons do (which is a lot) then Synapse must be installed. The software itself is a really nice addition to the mouse (and all of your Razer gear) as it allows you to completely customize all your buttons, giving them complex macro’d functions and/or different key assignments to pull of complicated moves in games, or just automate repetitive functions both in games or in your regular pc usage. These settings are all saved to your Razer account, so if you switch from one computer to the next, or have to wipe a hard drive and reinstall an OS, once you log in to Synapse on a given computer, you’re good to go. No need to re-program everything. Super convenient overall. Some times I’ve taken long breaks from games, and when I’ve finally decided to come back and play them a bit, it’s always nice to see my past macros and key assignments still present. The mouse itself is really nicely constructed, super smooth in your hand and fits really well. All button clicks feel nice, as well as the scrolling. It feels durable as well, and the braided USB cord will help it last too. I honestly can’t find anything to complain about. Razer is hit-and-miss with their laptops but I’ve never once had any issues with their mice. Keep up the great work.

    Un gran mouse siempre y cuando sepas configurarlo e instalar en tu computadora Synapse 3 , llevo 3 semanas probando este producto y me gustaría destacar sus principales atributos y deficiencias

    Atributos:
    * Un mouse de gran calidad , (tiene buenos materiales de construcción y se siente duradero)
    * Cuenta con un botón desplegable ( eso me es muy útil , puesto a qué si lo ocupo para tareas de oficina se lo quieto para que no me estorbe , pero si me dedico a gaming me es muy útil , me gusta que tenga esa función de quitar y poner ese botón )
    * Tiene un sistema de RGB muy bien diseñado y con una gran cantidad de iluminación ( menciono esto puesto que otras marcas no tienen una buen cantidad de iluminación , menciono esto porque tengo un teclado Logitech y cuando activo el rgb en ambos el rgb de mouse lo opaca por completo , lo buen es que desde el programa de Synapse 3 puedo configurar la intencidad del brillo )
    *El mouse cuenta con 2 años de garantía ( siempre y cuando lo registres debidamente en sus página oficial , para ello requieres crearte una cue ya en Razer)
    *Gran sistema de configuración ( con esto me refiero al programa de Synapse 3 , es muy intuitivo y puedes configurar fácilmente cualquier dispositivo Razer , lo mejor de esto es que puedes crear perfiles para cada juego o tarea en específico y aparte lo puedes guardar en la nube , el hecho de guardar tus configuraciones en la nube se me hizo muy interesante puesto si cambia de PC no tienes que volverlo a configurar todo de nuevo y ya tienes tus configuraciones listas para cualquier tarea , rápido , sencillo y fácil

    Pero no todo es bueno , ahora empezaré a destacar sus principales deficiencias.

    Deficiencias:
    *El costo de aproximadamente 50 USD podría ser más competitivo , puesto que por ese precio en el mercado encontramos otros mouses con mayores funciones que este, así que solo recomiendo comprarlo si está en oferta (el cuál fue mi caso y por eso lo adquirí)
    * Instalar en el ordenador el programa de Synapse 3 en ocasiones no es muy fácil , porque al principio me tope con varios inconvenientes , el principal era que no abría el programa en mi computadora con Windows 10 , tuve que entrar a ver un vídeo en Youtube y pide solucionarlo ( recomiendo a las personas de Razer mejorar el programa de Synapse 3 para que sea más fácil su arranque )
    * Esto es ya a gusto personal , pero al recibir el producto y vi la caja del mouse se ve como un producto premium y de buena calidad , pero al destaparlo me topo que lo que está cubriendo el cable y el mouse dentro de la caja es solo un pedazo de cartón café , eso a mí criterio le quita lo premium , se ve muy simple , sugiero que cambien ese cartón café simple por un papel verde del tono de razer con su logo para mejorar la imagen del producto al abrirlo.

    Ergonomics were pretty great, love the rubber side grips. It fit my hand size well and the actuation force needed to click was good. The stock skates were good, and the software is not as bad as back then.
    I had some issues with the sides creaking if I pressed on them. The L/R mouse buttons creaked and moved around a little while using, which kind of irritated me. Wish there were more lighting zones for a mouse at this price. The value of the mouse is a little lower than what razer is offering us, but overall I’m moderately satisfied.

    This mouse is so absolutely comfortable. It has a great thumb grip and just overall feel in your hand. I’ve never used a more comfortable mouse. It has a great wheel adjustments and DPI. However, the software they want you to download is very glitchy. I couldn’t get it to work. Despite that, it works perfectly fine without the software. I just can’t change the colors or reassign the buttons (which is fine I just want forward and back anyways)

    Before buying these mice, I owned a Deathadder, which had served me perfectly well for a decade, however, the left click started acting wonky a couple weeks ago so I figured it was time for a replacement. I wanted to buy another Razer mouse since the one I had originally had lasted me so long so I ordered the Basilisk Essential. The product arrived with the plastic where you rest your palm peeling and chipping. I was bummed out but these things happen sometimes so I bought another one and put in a return for the first one. The second mouse arrived and came with the EXACT SAME DAMAGE as the first one. In the attached pictures you can see the first mouse and its damages as well as the second one (the one still inside the bag it comes in) and its almost identical damages. Very disappointed in this experience; probably wont be buying Razer products again.

    I am a really big fan of razer products, and since I have started hardcore gaming I have been using some of them here and there. Before my current mouse, I was using a Razer Deathadder and although it was a good mouse it didn’t feel right in my hands and it didn’t have some of the features that I was looking for. Currently I am using the Corsair Glaive Pro, as depicted; but this one looked like it had a similar design so I wanted to give it a try. When comparing the two mouses, the corsair one is obviously a better mouse for DPI and larger hands. I like that the razer mouse has similar features; but being a female with medium sized hands this one felt a little too small for me. The razer mouse has a more downward slant, is lighter, but I feel for my gaming style I prefer a larger mouse to fit my hands. Overall, for the quality and price this is a fantastic mouse, and it would definitely be my second choice if I did not hav the Glaive Pro. I would recommend this for people with smaller hands that really want to take advantage of a lightweight mouse and the programmable buttons.

    Beautiful and lightweight. Similar shape to the logitech g502 proteus spectrum which I replaced with this one. So far I would say I do like this mouse much better than the g502. It is lighter, more balanced, and the buttons and grips feel much nicer. And that’s not to mention how gorgeous it is. Perfect compliment to my build as pictured. The Razer software is also very good and allows you to customize the settings and lighting on the mouse with ease and has a good number of options for lighting effects.

    I used this for basic gaming nothing too serious. Awesome mouse great tracking and great ergonomic feel. My only downside that I could find is that it can be hard to reach the dpi clutch and trying to reach it makes your hand uncomfortable on the mouse. If the paddle for the dpi clutch was longer, then this review would be a 10/10 but otherwise it’s a solid 9/10

    I’ve only used one other Razer product in the past, a 7.1 Kraken headset, so I had an idea of what to expect of the build quality of this product, which is pretty stellar. Not only that but Razer packages their products extremely well. Tight form fitting, no sloppiness – hey, that makes for good unboxing videos on YouTube now that I think about it, right? But I digress, the movement is super smooth, and I like the mechanical ‘click’ associated with clicks for the left and right buttons. It’s a toned-down version of my Azio keyboard, and not silent like the Logitech mouse I was using. 9/10 would buy again. This being said, for those that are curious, CAN use this mouse purely plug-and-play without downloading and installing software, you are correct. I’ve verified this with my work laptop straight out of the box before switching to one of my personal PCs and it works perfectly fine. But you’re not going to get programmable button functionality, color control, etc. – all of the additional features you’re paying for with this mouse. Now for that 1/10 that might get fed-up, there’s some issues with the software when you do download and install it. I already had a Razer account from when I bought my headset, but never downloaded and installed the software – I felt that was just unnecessary. Logging in after downloading was about an 8 or 9 attempt process, with an ever-so-helpful generic “something went wrong, please try again” error message. This happened when I was just my straight home Internet and not VPN connected. When the software WANTS to connect to the service, it will, regardless of just regular Internet or VPN, by the way. One of the bugs I’ve found with the software, for example, is that in Lighting options, when I select “switch off lighting when display is off” and I turn off the display – well, I expect the lighting to turn off. It doesn’t. Granted I do use a KVM to switch between 2 boxes, and it works perfectly fine through that, so to eliminate a possible point of failure with this bug, I plugged it straight into the PC. Same issue. Also, I’ve never had to apply a firmware update to a mouse before, so that was interesting that after all if a thermostat, home security camera, or smartwatch does it, I shouldn’t have necessarily been surprised by it. This is just a neutral observation to the review overall, so do expect it to occur and don’t be surprised by it. Overall I’m satisfied and I’m rather positive that while this is my first Razer mouse, it won’t be my last.

    Right out of the I didn’t have to make any adjustments for what I am mainly going to use this mouse for. I used to game pretty hard core back in the day and my favorite mouse back then was one of the higher end Razer mice which was a bit bigger and more involved to use. This new Razer Basilisk Essential Gaming Mouse was a breeze to set up and is the perfect size and has everything I need and more. For the little PC gaming I do now the Basilisk has plenty Macro options and I love the Chroma effects which sync perfectly with my Razer keyboard. The slightly textured rubber grips actually give me better control than I initially thought they would. The buttons are nice and clicky and feel like they will hold up to some heavy smashing. It glides super smooth which is due to the butter smooth pads, weight and the perfect soft flexible cord.

    I really like this mouse. I prefer to use gaming mice for my office and personal work because they tend to be much higher quality than typical Microsoft or Logitech “office” mice. I like the size of the buttons, center wheel resistance, and more. I have tweaked many of the settings for my own use, and find that I like the amount of customization that is possible. The mouse appears to be very well made, with a quality cable. While I am not a fan of huge software packages for something like a mouse, I guess I’ll make a small exception for this one. So you know, the software you will download and use for this mouse is the same software if you would use if you had a razor keyboard (Most of the demos in the software refer to a keyboard). The software so far has not given me any trouble at all, other than it’s a humongous download. Additionally, it is using well over 100 MB of memory in a combination of six or more background services. I’m not crazy about that, but I do think the mouse is very comfortable to use and just the right size. At this point I have no reason to be overly critical of the size of the software package and in particular the amount of memory it is using, because I haven’t noticed a slowdown of my system. Please note that I am not using this as a gaming mouse (I’m not a gamer). I’m using it as a high-quality mouse for office work, photo editing, desktop publishing, and more. For these tasks it is excellent. It is also helpful that I can change the color of the logo whenever I want 😉. Lastly, I’d prefer a little bit more weight in the mouse, but I know that is a personal preference and that many gamers dislike mice that are too heavy and don’t respond more abruptly to their wrist and hand movements. So, I can understand why razor has chosen the weight they have. Highly recommended.

    I now primarily use this mouse for work – the extra buttons and adjustable DPI are great for toggling between fine motion operations in design work to less accurate word processing or general use purpose.

    Prior to taking to work, had used this for gaming and video editing at home. Accuracy and functionality are great. Eventually got a Razer wireless mouse for home use (easy to switch between bluetooth and wireless connections (swap between home PC and work laptop during COVID times). Would recommend this mouse and Razer in general for quality and affordable products.
