   The Keypad overall feels very nice, with really smart adjustments. The bottom 2 left keys are a little bit awkward, the bottom corner rests nicely but makes it hard to press the one next to it, wish it was the same level of the corner one or slightly higher. Works as it’s supposed to overall.

   Gave 4 Stars because I kind of expect braided cables on $100+ gaming gear.

   Someone had mentioned why doesn’t the arm rest fold in for traveling, but overall this doesn’t really feel like it was made to be portable, plastic cord with a bit of extra plastic wrap around the connection to the pad so it doesn’t tear (which is smart)

   The Orbweaver is a fantastic gamepad. For many low-input games, I find myself using it over the keyboard regularly, thanks to the additional directional pad and alt/space controls under the thumb. It’s also very comfortable for extended use and allows me to set macros without altering my keyboard, which makes it extremely easy to alt-tab out of games and type as normal, but still have my keys rebound in-game without changing key config files. That said, it is definitely not without issues. My one, huge complaint reflects that of many others. The palm rests on the Orbweaver are glued on and that glue is melting. The rubber palm rest constantly slides around by a few millimeters at a time when gaming and I end up with this extremely tacky, sticky black goop on my hand. I have to wash my hands after each use thanks to this. This can be fixed easily a number of ways, but requires a DIY solution, which I am removing a star for. As the pad did not begin to unglue until well over a year of regular use. If it had began any sooner, I would easily remove 2-3 stars, but this pad saw at least a few hundred hours of use before this problem began. If you buy this gamepad, be prepared to eventually pry the rubber rests off (this will be a real pain and if you pull them off, they will stretch out and won’t fit back on!) and re-glue them with something more permanent. I really have no clue what Razer was thinking when they used a glue that would wear down like this and melt at body temperature, considering it’s meant to be in prolonged contact with skin. Either a stronger, temperature-resistant adhesive was needed, or it should have been mechanically attached. That said, a bottle of Goo Be Gone, a very fine drill bit, a couple screws and washers (or superglue!) later, and you have one of the best gamepads on the market IMHO. Oh, by the way. The Razer Synapse software seems horrid, annoying and invasive. Especially if you have only one Razer device. However, when you have multiple, it functions superior to the alternatives from almost any other gaming peripheral company I’ve used including Logitech, Corsair and AZIO. From what I’ve seen, Steel Series may be the only better macro and profile settings software for gaming peripherals out there right now. One benefit to Razer is that after having to format and reinstall my computer when a SSD controller died, it automatically reloaded all of my macros and profiles for my Orbweaver, Naga Hex and Blackwidow Chroma. My biggest complaint is that the Razer Synapse 2.0 software will CONSTANTLY request to update and restart my computer. Literally one to two times per day, even if I let it update every time it wants. There’s no reason for it to need my computer to restart, are they changing the %@!#$! firmware!? If you close out the task bar notification that pops up over everything, it will maintain focus on the taskbar (preventing it from minimizing) until you reboot your computer, or manually stop and restart all Razer drivers/services/processes which is very likely to cause the Synapse software to stop working correctly. I have contacted Razer support about this multiple times and they have never given me an answer or even paid attention; I just get a canned copy/paste response saying to uninstall and reinstall Synapse to correct the problem, which I have done many times through the years to no effect. Please don’t let my complaints mislead you. I love Razer products. As a PC gaming enthusiast, I am extremely picky and I find these fine-tune complaints to be minor issues. I have experience with several other manufacturers and I have less complaints overall about Razer’s software, design and build quality than I do for anyone else.

   **Update 1** After talking to the Customer Service Supervisor and having him review the email chain, he agreed that Gavin D. should have looked at the situation more clearly and not strung me along. New Orbweaver is inbound. I have 90 days to put it through the gaming gauntlet and see if the glue remains a problem (Sean has told me that they’ve taken the complaints to heart and have worked on the problem). If it still is an issue, they will replace it. I’ve upped the stars to 2 for now and if the keypad arrives and is still in good shape after heavy usage, I’ll up the stars again. I can’t help being disappointed that after hearing reasonably good things about Razer’s customer service that they left me high and dry on a replacement for my Orbweaver after the glue on the wrist and palm pads started gushing from underneath their surfaces. To be clear, I bought this keypad after being delighted by having the Nostromo for a short time prior and was ready to upgrade to mechanical keys (and donate the gently used Nostromo to my gamer wife). The problem started probably about 3 months into the purchase of the product, and I only decided to contact the customer service after reading that they had been particularly helpful in replacing Orbweavers for this exact reason. I’ve been getting strung along for the past week by a reasonably polite (but particularly copy-and-paste robotic) customer service rep by the name of Gavin D. who had told me right from the start that they were going to replace the product that I’ve been using (despite the glue problem) for the past 1 1/2 years. Today, however, I’ve been informed that they are not going to replace it. It is disappointing that a big company like Razer is unwilling to stand behind their customers and replace their defective products. As it stands, I will have to look into switching to a Logitech G13 or a Warrior Gaming Keypad and hope for better quality and service.

   the only cons i can think are the non braided cable and the way the space bar is placed, which makes it hard to hit so i recommend using the alt key for space

   UPDATE at the bottom. Firstly, I actually do like this product. For what it does, it’s great. It was the first device that I could actually make fit my hand and still be able to reach most of the keys comfortably. The top row of keys is a stretch if you don’t have really long fingers. Fit and feel is noticeably cheaper than some of their other devices. My chief complaint after having owned and used this product for more than a year, is the quality of certain parts. My background, I’m a 20 year military veteran and I currently perform tech support at a school where we have 1300+ deployed computers. I am by no means abusive or careless with my personal equipment. I own seven (7) different Razer devices: 2 Deathadder mice, a Naga 2013 mouse, a Naga Hex mouse, a Nostromo keypad, a Deathstalker keyboard, and the Orbweaver that I’m reviewing here. I also own an orignal Belkin n52 keypad. A while ago I noticed that my palm would come away sticky when using this device for any period of time. I investigated the palm rests and discovered they were oozing glue from around the edges of the rubber pads, which would also slide around and stretch slightly. A simple internet search turns up others with similar experiences. I’ve had to place a towel over the pads to soak up the glue when I use the device. I decided to contact Razer about the device. Since it was more than a year old, I wasn’t truly looking for a replacement as I knew the device was already outside of the limited warranty period. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they would consider exchanging it anyway. After emailing back and forth with one representative, who asked me to provide pictures of the issue, I was told that it looked like the device would need to be replaced and the case was escalated to the Razer RMA team to process my exchange. “Thank you for your email. We have received all the required information and have forwarded this to the Razer RMA team who will be processing your exchange. The team will get back to you shortly with more information regarding your exchange. While most RMA escalations are answered within one to two business days or less, some escalations can take a bit longer depending on support demand. We appreciate your patience.” – Razer Tier 1 support specialist Within hours I received a message from a Customer Service manager: “Based on the pictures you have just sent, the damage does not come from a normal manufacturing defect. We are sorry to say that our warranty do not cover damages by misuse, abuse or negligence. http://www.razerzone.com/warranty#question7 We are unable to process any replacements on your behalf.” I’m still not sure how you can determine that I caused damage via “misuse, abuse or negligence” from a couple of pictures that clearly show the glue residue where it has come out from beneath the manufacturer installed padding. I would have gladly shipped the device to them for inspection if they had even bothered to ask. After years of having zero issues with Razer products, this single incident has sullied their reputation in my eyes. “For Gamers, By Gamers” – only when you’re spending your money with them, not when their devices start to fail from obvious manufacturing issues. ———-UPDATE————- I heard back from Razer customer service again. The gist of the message is that they’re sorry to see I have a defective device (shocker considering they originally told me it was my fault), but that since my warranty is expired there’s nothing they can do about it. Pretty much what I initially thought was going to happen. I asked about suggestions to resolve the issue and was told to get some contact cement and re-glue the pads down. Not as easy as it sounds. Pulling the pads off will stretch them out of shape, so I would recommend using a mild solvent to aid in the removal process. The glue that is on the pads is very sticky and doesn’t come off easily. Since I didn’t have any solvent laying around, I ended up using a lot of hand soap and warm water while kind of rolling the glue back onto itself. It appears to be some kind of glue tape, as you can see a slight membrane on the rubber when you’re removing it. I had to trim my pads down slightly to get them to fit (since I ended up stretching them when I pulled them off the plastic), but the contact cement seems to be holding up fine to normal use. The pads feel more secure on the palm rests and I haven’t seen any on the pads since.

   Great for gaming, love it and wouldn’t use anything else but the palm rest pad coming lose and getting glue everywhere is still an issue after 4 years. Not sure why they wont fix the issue.
