I have used a zboard for years. I upgraded it with each WoW expansion. With cataclysm I bought the new keyset, and put it on my zboard. I had to uninstall the zboard software and install the steelseries engine. This took several tries before it took. I felt I was missing some of the functionality because the cataclysm board was actually made to be compatible with the shift keybase. I bought a Shift, and the problems just keep mounting. The delete key stops working at random intervals. The space bars do not work correctly. The chat keys do not open the right chats, and cause the character and screen to jump. The hot keys that steelseries is so proud of cause the entire keyset to shut down (they switch off the steel series engine). I have installed and reinstalled the software a dozen times, as an administrator. I have used steel series’ firmware fix tool over a dozen times, to no avail. I do not recommend this product to anyone I will be asking for a refund as soon as I can get this sent back to go-keyboard.com.

I really like the utility of this keyboard. The ability to make macros for games that normally do not have them is awesome and the keyboard usb/sound hub aspect is handy for desk logistics. The interface for setting up macros takes a little getting used to but it isn’t very complicated. You have to be careful what .exe files you attach to certain profiles because some games keep the client associated with the program running even after it is closed so you will end up with a gaming keyboard profile while you are trying to type a review on go-keyboard.com, but that is something that just takes knowing your system.
Mechanically this keyboard has great response and is very comfortable for long hours of playing whatever game you play and I would recommend it to anyone especially at the sale price I got it at.

My Son requested this particular board when we built his last computer.
He games and gets deep into some of them. This board was good because of the interchangeable key sets (we use the WoW set) I have seen others, and of course there is the generic set.
The change takes seconds. Slide a lever on the right side and gently slide and lift. The key set folds into three sections. Installation of the next is just as simple.
The keys are programmable for gaming.
Two USB ports directly on the keyboard is a great feature for USB sticks.
Overall, a very good keyboard for any gaming enthusiast.

First thing I experienced with this keyboard was feeling how heavy and sturdy it was- for us rigorous typers, it’s a chore to have to move our keyboards back after our strokes push it away. The interchangeable keysets made this purchase very worthwhile for me(a Starcraft/WoW player). My only gripe is no back-lights on the keys, but hey- the soft glow of multiple monitors is all the light us gamers need, right?

I bought the SteelSeries Shift Keyboard so that I could use the Cataclysm Keyset to play World of Warcraft. I have a brand new Core i7/Nvidia computer. When I first connected the keyboard, the Q, Tab, and 1 keys did not respond at all (all the other keys worked). I proceeded to download the SteelSeries Engine Software (which reports compatibility with Windows 8) and installed it. The software does not detect the keyboard. I tried it on a brand new AMD system and received the same results. I believe that the board is defective because of the keys that don’t work. I contacted SteelSeries and received a message from one of their engineers stating that this keyboard is not compatible with Windows 8. They have offered me an exchange for a different keyboard which I am currently pursuing with them.
Overall I would expect that the Shift would be an awesome keyboard if you don’t run Windows 8. Disappointing that they have it listed as compatible on their website when the reality is much different.

I’m very picky about the keyboards I use but I couldn’t afford to spend a couple hundred dollars on a new one. This one was not only priced right but was a nice addition to my system. Plugged it in, went to the website and downloaded the software for it, and it worked like a charm.
You can customize the hot keys to do several different things, along with writing your own macros. And since the keyset lifts right out, it makes cleaning it a breeze also.
I often have issues with mouse cords not being long enough as I tend to be on the computer so much, a wireless mouse is not an option for me. I love that this keyboard has usb ports right there on it. I can plug my mouse and headset both in without having to mess around with the usb ports on the tower itself. I would recommend this to anyone.

This keyboard works, but it’s not saying it is connected to the computer. My boyfriend has windows 10, is there any number to call and get some of this figured out. The keyboard is nice but, without use of the special actions it’s not worth what I paid.
