   First mechanical keyboard for me. The variant with the blue switches seemed like a good match for “typists” like me — and it very much is. It’s just shy of perfection. The good: – The blue switches offer just the right amount of resistance and travel. 1.1 mm of pre-travel; <3 <3 <3 More importantly, I can already realize speed increases in my typing, and with considerably less fatigue. – It’s hot-swappable. This was important to me in case I wasn’t happy with the switches and needed to replace them. – The minimalist and monochromatic style of this keyboard is really quite stunning. – Saves a lot of desk space; the kind of typing I do very rarely includes numbers, so I’m happy with a “tenkeyless” layout. The not-so-good: – The *unalterable* light display profiles programmed into this thing. I think most of them are dumb, and it lacks the one display I would like (but has its reverse!). – If you accidentally hit the “light bulb” key at the top right-hand side (e.g. when repositioning your keyboard), you’ll be pressing it 17 more times to cycle back to your chosen light display profile. – The keycaps! SO many errors here: – – Refer to the product picture, and look at the coloring of the F keys. 4 keys in black, then FIVE keys in grey, then THREE keys in black. Huh? – – The weird design on the key next to F12. It should have a replacement that reads “PrtSc” – – Each key’s label is crammed to the top of the keycap, so you’ll find a semicolon right next to a colon, and an apostrophe right next to a double-quote, and you won’t see the F keys at all when it’s dark because the manufacturer has chosen to prioritize media playback keys. – – The inconsistent labeling leads to “del” yet “control,” and “page up” and “page down” which illuminate poorly because the text is placed on two lines. Yes, the keycaps can be replaced — at considerable expense. But Keychron could also simply have gotten this right to begin with. In any case, these are minor gripes. This is a magnificent keyboard, which the kid will never touch…

   Bought the version with brown switch. Pretty low-key with great volume control as a mechanical keyboard. Also pretty light, good for carrying around. Doesn’t has a daunting learning curve if you came from Apple’s magic keyboard. Plus it’s 100% compatible with my Apple M1 Mac air. I start loving it within a week.

   Context: I heavily use this for office work and am a heavy typer – use it for notes, document writing and also taking notes during interviews I am writing this review after using this for 2 months so that I know that this is the right product and that it really helps me in my work. And I can definitely say it does. This is my first mechanical keyboard and I purchased one after a year of deliberation. I always used to type on my laptop keyboard even while using a separate monitor just so that I could become faster in my typing. I use a Mac and right off the bat this comes with a Mac oriented layout. The keys click but but as much to make the experience too loud. When I talk to people and type they are not disturbed when on video calls. I used it in a office setting the noise was not too loud at all for people around me to be bothered by it. The keyboard is smooth and it took me a week to get used to the actuation force but once done my sped definitely improved. The base is aluminum and it gives off a really premium feel and helps with the stability of the product. There are 2 levels of lift in the keyboard, which is a huge plus for me – if I stand and work there is a different inclination versus when I sit and type and this keyboard helps in both. The lights on this one are white and I am quite ok with that. One thing to note – the intensity or backlights is less when on bluetooth mode versus directly being connected (I have attached 2 photos for reference). I prefer smaller keyboards as travel times to keys are less and the fact that I have been typing on laptop keyboards for a long time. The keyboard is sleek and great in transporting and carrying around.

   Had Logitech MX Keys that started to develop some sticky keys. Tried the Logitech Mechanical Mini but didn’t love the feel. Got this keyboard with the linear reds and it feels awesome. Will experiment with some of the other switch profiles since these are hot-swappable which is a big plus. This keyboard is more than 50% cheaper than the comparable logitech and just as well made.

   I’ve been a Keychron customer for over 2 years now. I started off with the K1 and now I’ve had the K3 for about a month. Let me start off with the good: This keyboard has nice feel and touch. Not too clacky, but also good travel. The keys are actually spaced farther apart than the K1, despite being smaller in dimension. They did this by making the keys smaller, and leaving more gap between the keys. This is nice because I was always mis-striking keys on the K1. The keys on the K3 are also cupped, which makes a nice fit for the fingers. The K1 keys were flat and made typing more difficult. I chose the cherry red switches which are noisy than the other switches. The other improvement over the K1 is that the small indents on the F and J keys are more noticable. For touch typists, having an easy way to find the F and J keys is really nice. I appreciate this. Now for the annoyances: 1) The position of the light key is in the top right of the keyboard. It is extremely annoying to have the light key placed here. Reason is that I set the lighting mood on the keyboard once, and maybe change it once a year. Most other keyboards have the delete or backspace in the top right. I don’t know about you, but I hit the delete key probably about 500 x per day, so I think having this in the top right is more logical. 2) Position of the screenshot key: for macs there is a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot. They placed a key right next to delete to perform this function. I’ve caught myself a few times per day hitting the screenshot instead of delete. I’ve memorized the keyboard shortcut on macs to do a screenshot (CMD+SHIFT+4), so I really don’t need an extra key to do this for me. Especially if it makes me mis-strike the delete key. 3) Repeating text. The first week or so, the keyboard would strangely repeat string of text that I was typing. It was almost as if there was a buffer, and the buffer would suddenly dump out text right in the middle of typing. I didn’t know what was going on. I replaced the USB-C cable with the one from the box and things started to improve. I still have the repeating keystrokes from time to time, but not nearly as much as before. This is the main reason I got rid of the K1, because it was not registering clicks to the space bar correctly. For the annoyances #1 and #2 above, I simply popped off the keycaps and red switches for the light and screenshot keys. This makes things much easier for me. See photo attached. It looks rather strange, but hey it works. If anyone from Keychron is reading this PLEASE MOVE THE POSITION of these two keys. They are very annoying.

    No llevo ni una semana usando el teclado de forma inalámbrica y las teclas de las flechas es como si se quedaran atoradas y no dejan de presionarse solas. Se que algunos de estos teclados son delicados pero esto es absurdo el tener que ya arreglarlo cuando ni he comenzado a usarlo en serio. No creo que sea un feature el que siga moviéndose solo en el documento. Esto sucede en varias aplicaciones y juegos.

    Update – The cahps LED does not turn up sometimes. Overall a good keyboard. My first mechanical keyboard. The first I ordered was Red Switch one. I didn’t like it. It was too springy. Blue switches are something I preferred. I bought a used one which had a tweezer, extra keys missing. I could know it when I ordered Blue Switch one and it had those extras.

    I play alot of call of duty and the biggest problem i had was desk size. Meaning my previous keyboard was too big, and when flicking the mouse for shots, i would constantly slam my mouse into the keyboard. My friend showed me this keyboard and i decided to try it. I was surprised how much of a difference it was in person its a good 6in or so shorter than a full keyboard and i dont have the same problems anymore. Its clicky but its a quiet click on keys, its not that obnoxious clicking sound that makes you think you’re on a typewriter. Overall a very pleasant keyboard. Would recommend

    This keyboard is incredibly smooth. The low profile keys are exactly what I was looking for (more of a laptop keyboard feel). These optical switches do feel a lot more mushy but I like how it feels. The right side of the spacebar started lightly squeaking when pressed after a couple days of used but it’s not bothersome and I think it’ll go away after it’s broken in more. I do not recommend if you are a heavy-handed typer!!! The switches are incredibly light and take very little force to press.

    It is a good keyboard. However, only the top half of the keycaps are backlit. This means: – the F-key legends are not backlit. – On top of it, the F-keys are marked in a very low contrast gray print making it hard to see. – Other keys have the legends printed next to each other instead of above/below as a work around for the ½ lit key caps. For example, ;: instead of : ; You will be surprised how confusing that is and how it slows you down trying a) to make out very similar looking characters, and b) figuring out of you need the shift key or not. I guess over a period of time you will relearn they keys, but the point is, the keycap legends are not standard. Since I use the F-keys extensively in my job, I have to either count the keys or lean forward to see the low-contrast F-key legends. See the picture. I will return this keyboard.

    The keyboard is pretty good but has one fatal flaw: keys activate by the slightest touch. That means if you’re playing games and hover your finger on a key, even the weight of your finger tip will activate it. That effectively means your have to hover your hand over all keys and can’t relax as much, making the keyboard less ergonomic. Simply put: it’s excessively sensitive to touch, and it takes away for the usability. Otherwise I love the design and look of it. The font is great, the heft, the features (3 Bluetooth connections is amazing!), and the minimalist layout. It’s just a that one fatal flaw I wish I could fix. For regular office use it’s probably okay but it’s terrible for gaming which is why I got it. Update: I got the banana switches which completely eliminate the accidental activations. The Red switches are just no good by default. Update 2: The bluetooth stability is pretty bad. It keeps going to sleep and taking too long to wake up (it can easily take 5 seconds of repeated pressing on keys before it starts registering). If you are watching media and want to adjust volume this becomes an obvious issue. Every YouTube video (at 9+ minutes) means you have to re-wake the keyboard. The Apple Magic Keyboard doesn’t seem to have this issue so I think this is an area that could be greatly improved.

    Firstly, what I like. The product is obviously build to last. The feel is good when I’m typing with it. It’s compact but includes the four important keys, page up, page down, home and end.
    Then what I don’t like. I would give it a five star if not for the short battery life. The keyboard can only last one week even though I turn off the backlit because I have no use of that function. I can live with that by charging it whenever I remember but it’s really annoying to have yet another device to charge frequently.

    I bought this keyboard because the clicking noise of most keyboards gets under my skin. After a few days of use for school and gaming, I find that the noise level (on the red switches that is) is minimal, but not absolutely silent. The low profile keys I also enjoy. The backlit keys have several different light settings; however the static works just fine for me.

    As far as the Bluetooth feature for this keyboard, I find it works well. My only complaint is that after a period of inactivity, the keyboard will disconnect, forcing me to “wake it up” with a few spacebar mashes to get it to reconnect. I assume this is to save battery life. I could also cut out this hassle by simply wiring it to my computer.

    Overall, I recommend this keyboard for anyone wanting a sleek and quiet keyboard.
